This was 1991. Guess how many secret meetings we've sponsored since then.

Bless you Shilly.

If I had to guess, I'd say two thousand three hundred and sixty eight...no sixty nine

Bump excellent, and makes perfect sense.

There a whole lotta "what has been kept in the dark shall be brought to the light" going on lately.

Fantastic post, OP.

For those of us who believe the music industry has a horrible agenda, and the artist's involved have some connection to bad things and people, this concept makes sense.

Peace!

Just want to throw out an addition to the topic, but what other industries or agencies do you think might 'profit' (not necessarily monetarily) off the negative side of music??

RE: 1991 - Secret Meeting Between Music Executives and Prison Investors
To all,
I assume this has already been posted on here before. IF you have never heard of this series, it's very though provoking. IF you have already seen the series, I suppose, tell a friend or family member.

The Music Industry Exposed - There are 10 parts, I believe, but could be wrong (happens quite frequently don't'cha'know'Bobbo)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DikoLMfnEgE

Music is a HUGE part of mainstream society, and the American culture since the beginning of our country. And it took it's large scale dark turn after the ability to record and distribute. Literal generations have been programmed (some individuals more than others) due to the effects of different musics.

doomed

At least check out the series, they keep your attention. It was hardest for me to sit through the Michael Jackson episode. I had already prejudged the situation, because of the ammount of msm coverage, and emotional response mandated from hearing about children being abused. I'm still at a moral dilemma as to which storyline I truly believe, but at least it gives a conflicting opinion to what the entire country was forced to believe. MJ's trial and tribulation got the same styled coverage as OJ and Kasey Anthony.

Srjceahd

The JayZ, Eminem, Bob Dylan interviews are an easy watch.

Like I said, this has probably already been shared, but it's worth the re-sharing in my opinion. My one year old loves Barney, and as we all know now...sharing is caring

Figures. That's about time music started to really suck. Well, at least what was getting AirPlay and topping the charts.

I always had that happening in 1994 in my history lesson.

What made 1994 in particular, "the year"?

Might be time to introduce or revisit :

The Strange but Mostly True Story of Laurel Canyon and the Birth of the Hippie Generation

http://www.davesweb.cnchost.com/

For those who don't know this investigative series covers the music industry and "artist" ties to the US Military, among others.

I had just finished reading this story and had considered posting it here. Glad to see you posted it. It's a very plausable story, and I'm inclined to believe there's some truth hidden in the story.

Fascinating read nonetheless.

Me too, though I noticed in the past decade it became more about heavily marketing a brand-obsessed consumerist lifestyle.

My guess is maybe the prison thing didn't work out so well so instead they loaded up on shares of Versace, etc. Instead.

Part of me wanted to call bs but there are too many people out there who get dumb ideas like this in their heads and are in a position to run with them. They wouldn't have that power if more people around them just told them to f*** off, because they usually are complete idiots.

RE: 1991 - Secret Meeting Between Music Executives and Prison Investors
From : Dimensions Of Power - by Jeffery Klaehn and Garry Potter Interview

http://www.swans.com/library/art15/klaehn05.html

Jeffery Klaehn: What about the power of corporations and media?

Garry Potter: Today's media, notwithstanding some newly emergent structural forms and institutional entities on the Internet and other alternative venues, most significantly are corporations. This fact reaches deep, deep down into their form as well as their content. For example, the usual absence of significant contextualization of events in mainstream media is not simply a matter of editorial choice with respect to content made by an individual concerned with the communication of some particular information. There is that aspect to it certainly; but more significant is the fact that the media is structurally embedded in the political economy. That fact allows the contradiction of a populace being constantly bombarded by news from a plethora of sources on the one hand, yet still managing to maintain the most astonishing ignorance of what is actually going on in the world on the other.

Jeffery Klaehn: In what ways does power manifest itself, ideologically, economically, socially? Whatever you may like to touch upon...

Garry Potter: Power manifests itself everywhere. All of the social institutions intended to produce and disseminate knowledge have within them a contradiction that derives from the power relations that underpin social inequality in society. The contradiction is that the institutional production of knowledge entails its dialectical opposite: structural mystification.
