RE: 20/20 Hannah Overton
I read the article and watched all three videos.
She was complicit in that child's death, but it wasn't intentional on her part. As she was snoozing the child most likely ingested most of that salt due to his undiagnosed disorder. She shouldn't have left him unattended.
Her defense team were complete idiots.
I hope she finds recourse.

Oh, and I should add that that prosecutor was certainly looking for a career score and the jury were imbeciles.

RE: 20/20 Hannah Overton
I'm still watching the 3rd video but I just wanted to say that so far from what I have seen is that she shouldn't have been charged with a crime.
I think the 2 women that said she killed Andrew, even though there was reasonable doubt, they empathized with her situation and could see how it may have frustrated her as it did with the husband when he burned the poopy sheets and so in 'their(the two women) mind they could see themselves intentionally killing or allowing him to die. It's like a case of projection in the vacuum of actual or all info and the one girls eyes basically said that.
So far from what I've seen, I think the stepmom/Hannah did as best she could with the info/knowledge she had. It seems the child had some condition that was not known and she became a victim of it too.
It's a common theme in society where people become victimized themselves while trying to help someone without themselves being knowledgeable or trained to handle the situation. I think in rescue situations that go wrong that the rescuer cannot be charged for a failed attempt at helping or trying to do what they thought was best and their intents were good although faulty in ignorance.

Exactly, even if she was comlicit, she didn't INTENTIONALLY forgoe the hospital in order to kill the kid, she was just ignorant. And Intentionally killing the kid is what the jurors were suppose to be judging. She has already served 5 years in prison, For whatever she did or didn't do in time, I'd say she paid her time and needs to come home to her family.

RE: 20/20 Hannah Overton
What a miscarriage of justice that is. Like a series of unfortunate events all wrongly stacked up against her. Peoples bias, angers and ignorance causing them to jump to conclusions, to believe others same poor knee-jerk judgements that amounts to a witch hunt.
Meanwhile, those in authority fail to truly seek the truth in all the evidence that doesn't support a conviction. Not only that but since this isn't an isolated incident of Andrews medical condition they fail to help others who suffer from it. And Hannahs children are also having to deal with this whole injustice without their mother.
I hope when this gets turned around that all those people that contributed to this without good honest unbiased intent really see where and how they went wrong. How anger and ignorance can blind and bias them to compound a problem and create another or worse one.

RE: 20/20 Hannah Overton
At ten am this morning i started reading the article in the texas monthly and by 10.30 am i finished in tears. I think what really hit home was her seeing her little girl walk for the first time in the parking lot beneath the prison cell window. This woman has been persecuted for loving and caring for children when no one else cared and look how she is repaid. Tell me OP what can I do to help??? I will gladly do what I can she deserves to be free and with her family again. The world rewards the bastards and criminalizes the good and we must stand up for this woman she needs a million voices to shout out at this injustice. I am heartbroken and shamed by my fellow humans for letting this happen. This woman has killed no child ever look and see if you can see the evil that i can not.

RE: 20/20 Hannah Overton
I don't know how they could even say that she failed to get timely medical treatment because she has been giving him medical treatment all along since she was EMT trained. And from what I can tell all the things she did while his conditioned worsened were reasonable and prudent.
The decision to drive or call 911 for transportation was weighed and they, both the parents, felt it was quicker to drive themselves but they also didn't think it was a life or death decision. That strangely was apparently not analyzed by court to see if it was the best decision or not but still someone should not be penalized for doing something in good but ignorant intent. It appears that the conviction was based on not getting timely medical help but they didn't intentionally delay in it so there shouldn't be any criminal charges. Her medical training and giving CPR 'was' medical help.
Imagine all the parents that could be charged for potentially endangering their child (delaying medical help) for not immediately calling 911 because of flu like symptoms and for taking them to the doctor themselves.

The jury are always imbeciles. This has been true throughout time. Over a hundred years ago Mark Twain wrote scathing essays about juries.

this is the exact argument that should have been put forth in front of the judge jurors. what about the jurors they interviewed did these two girl not no that you shouldn't convict if you have reasonable doubt.

It's up to the Court of Appeals at this point I think. So, its pretty much just wait and see what happens. They could either, Free her and drop all charges, give her a new trial, or hold the charges as they stand. If the charges are held, I think her last chance or only chance at that point is a pardon from Governor Rick Perry. I don't know anything about petitions, or if they even work, but that would be something someone could start and do to send to Governor Rick Perry. I Doubt he has even heard of this woman.
