But since you have your head up your ass, you haven't heard. There are 30 million people ACTIVELY looking for work, but there are no jobs for them. You have a job for 30 million people?

Once you have that done, then we can talk about paying tens of millions more people a wage they can actually live on.

AND THEN we can debate the merits of being another cog in the wheel of the machine rather than living your own life as you please.

I have seen ONE example of this. Old bum who walked around a small city along the Hudson for YEARS. Had a shopping cart, collected tin cans, the whole bit.

Come to find out, after he was murdered, that he had over a million dollars in a bank account, and owned a home worth more than a million dollars.

Yet at the same time, he was not faking it. This dude lived on the streets, slept in homeless camps, the whole nine yards.

Like I said, he was a well-known bum around town. People knew he was legitimately a street person. In his 60s when he was killed.

It is our position that a person working eight hours a day, five days a week, at any job, should be able to support themselves to a minimum basic standard of living. Of course, that figure must be after all taxes and contributions are taken, or that anyone earning that amount must be exempt from all such garnishments and liability. A person who cannot even afford to pay their own way, cannot afford to pay taxes. If $17.47 per hour seems unreasonable to you, or just downright impossible, consider a few more facts. There was a time when a grocery clerk, or a department store salesperson could actually support themselves on what they earned. That is not so today.

Using data by the U.S. BLS, the average productivity per American worker has increased 400% since 1950. One way to look at that is that it should only take one-quarter the work hours, or 11 hours per week, to afford the same standard of living as a worker in 1950 (or our standard of living should be 4 times higher). Is that the case? Obviously not. Someone is profiting, it’s just not the average American worker. -Source

Just saw an interesting thread "do you fear death?" and it made me think of something else here.

How would you like to die? Would you like to die of a hear attack at the water cooler one cold Monday morning with a half eaten bear claw in your hand? Would you like to die in a car wreck on your way home from that overnight shift you have to work 4 days a week on top of your full time job, just to keep the lights turned on? Maybe get your cap split in an armed robbery at the gas station where you are working 70 hours a week at minimum wage?

f*ck that noise. I would rather get drunk by a campfire one night, and just never wake up. Cheated the hangover for once, and never knew what happened. No pain, no suffering. No knowing you are about to die. No regrets that you will never see your loved ones again and that you are leaving them suffering.
