He predicted the CHCH earthquakes and many other events including the Volcanic eruption last week.

He does long range weather forecasts and around 50% of NZ's farmers go by his forecasts as he is more reliable than the Met service for long range predictions.
He comes in at around 85%

He still has a lot to learn in my opinion and doesn't believe in Man made quakes [he needs to get into the scene] nor weather manipulation [even though it is patented]

His predictions work off the moon as it causes the tides [with the help of the sun, something often glossed over] and also causes land tides as well.
In OZ the land is raised 50cm with every tide in NZ it can be as much as 87cms.

I listened to him on talk back radio today. He had been demonized by the media for predicting a large Earthquake in CHCH that did not happen.[but did predict on twitter the ones that did happen]

He is a Global warming denier [so he isn't all wrong] and said, "Geologists will tell you every ice-age is followed by an interglacial age, every interglacial age is around 10,000 to 11,000 years long, never has one interglacial age be followed by another"

His opinion was we are entering the next Ice-age.

Hi GD. I saw him on tv a couple of years in a row here. He made long range predictions for our weather, using his moon theories.

He was so spot on it wasn't even funny. I was very impressed.

He should stick with the weather, and not quakes, maybe.

Lots of people have looked into the moon theory and it almost makes a pattern but no consistency across the board.
He did successfully predict all the CHCH earthquakes and the volcanic eruptions recently but had also predicted some other activity that did not happen.

He made a big deal about this "land tides" and stressing how much energy was involved to lift 300 kms of crust every 12 hours.

Some of his other stuff was a bit off base from my opinion but he say they were just predictions of possible activity.

There seem to be a lot of factors in Earth quakes repeated in the same spots are interesting and why uneven magma displacement such as we are seeing in the pacific right now?

Ken did think all earthquakes are linked ultimately particularly with the transfered stress points.

The first time I heard of his he was made to look like a wack job but he is so accurate with his long range weather forecast that I had to listen some more.

He is on to something but might be a little short sighted in other causes for Earthquakes and volcanic activity. He did also suggest solar activity and ejections has influence as well.

Science has never nailed this as far as we know but the Meeting of high level diplomats in CHCH was told to leave 2 hours before the quake struck so someone knows something out there.

Where I live there is a lot of rain about 1.6 meters per year on average, I have seen it hold off on the horizon and come in with the change in tide, an old fisherman pointed it out to me once.

You would think with all their equipment, and knowledge, they could predict quakes.

Maybe they don't really understand the earth, and its movements, as well as they would have us think. Or, simply aren't telling us what they do know, as you said.

They can build cities to be quake proof, but that would cost too much money, so they would rather let us die. Or, rebuild, as that stimulates the bank's interests.

I wouldn't be surprised if we were coming into a mini ice age. I have felt that, that the cold will come soon.

I read an article 20 years ago, or more in Nexus, by someone proposing that was what was happening, and not really global warming. I can't recall what it was all about.

Glad you feel your new house is solid. Now lets hope that NZ still is :).

Volcanic Alert Bulletin WI-2012/01 - Crater Lake begins to re-fill; volcanic gases and tremor increase; Alert Level remains at 1; Aviation Colour Code changed to Yellow

Aug 2 2012, 3:00 pm - White Island Volcano

Crater Lake at White Island has recently started to re-fill and gases are now vigorously streaming through it. Airborne gas measurements made yesterday show that the discharge of some sulphur gases has increased. During the past few weeks there has also been some minor volcanic tremor.

During 2011 and early 2012 White Island Crater Lake slowly evaporated to expose steam vents and form two large muddy pools. However, sometime between Friday July 27 and Saturday July 28, the lake level rose quickly by about 3 m to 5 m. Vigorous flow of gas and steam through the new lake can be seen from the air. Two photos at the end of this bulletin, taken from a similar position, clearly show the change in water level.

The lake has been inaccessible for many months and we have not been able to measure changes in its temperature or chemistry. Sulphur gases measured yesterday in the steam and gas plume have increased during the last three months but CO2 gas output remains at about the same level.

Since early July there have been intermittent periods of volcanic tremor, including several hours early on Saturday July 28 and during Monday and Tuesday this week. Tremor is not uncommon at White Island but earlier this year it had been at very low levels.

A recent ground survey showed that the main crater floor is no longer subsiding and now may be slowly rising.

These phenomena are typical for White Island’s activity, but are the first substantial changes to occur in the last few years.

White Island is an active volcano and there is always risk when visiting the island. Eruptions can occur at any time with little or no warning. The recent changes in activity suggest that the hydrothermal system has become unstable, and as a result the risk has increased. We advise extra caution should be taken, especially if approaching the Crater Lake and other active thermal features.

GNS Science volcanologists are monitoring the activity and further information will be released as soon as it is available.

The increased activity at White Island has no connection with the recent earthquakes and changes in gas flux at Tongariro volcano.

Volcanic Alert Bulletin TON-2012/24 - Update; Volcanic Alert is at Level 1; Aviation Colour Code is Yellow

No further volcanic activity has occurred from the new Upper Te Māri craters on Tongariro. Seismic activity has also remained low over the last two weeks, however, GeoNet continues to monitor the volcano carefully.

A gas flight was undertaken on August 22 and lower sulphur dioxide emissions (380 tonnes per day) were measured. The previous measurement was over 2,100 tonnes per day on 9 August. Unfortunately conditions were not good enough to measure carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide concentrations in the volcanic plume.

On August 23 two field teams were deployed. The first team undertook gas sampling from fumaroles at Ketetahi, Oturere, Red Crater and Central Crater. The second team collected data from three surviving portable seismographs on Tongariro and installed one further seismic station to replace the instrument that was destroyed during the eruption.

On August 24 two field teams from Massey University and Department of Conservation visited the debris flow to survey the new deposit and to install a seismic sensor.

Work continues to understand the August 6 eruption and assess the future activity. Over the next seven days the scenario considered most likely is that there will be no further eruptions. The next most likely scenario is that any eruptions will be of similar size to the eruption on August 6. The scenario considered least likely is that larger eruptions will occur over the next seven days. Any further eruptions could occur with little or no warning.

Further updates will be issued should the situation change.

I was going to reply that the whole Pacific region is eerily quiet tonight, but in getting the link, I can see that there has just been one in Indonesia, not huge.

Whales mate.
They get revenge on anything Japanese where ever possible and are always screwing with their buoys.

A couple of conspiracy theorists believe it was the Confederation of United Whales that cause the Japanese Earthquake and tsunami as payback for all those years of Whale hunting.
