Not to mention all of those very tall hotels downtown... Water is always very high on my preps agenda...

I'm a mile or so south off of Buffalo... Actually, I am envious of where you live... That was a family get away trip when I was growing up... Haven't been to Arrowhead in decades...

I moved up here last year to get out of LA. I work in technology and so all of the jobs are in LA. I was paying 1,500/mo for a shitty 2 bedroom apartment and just had a daughter. I was offered the opportunity to work from home and I immediately started looking for a new place... I looked up here 4 years ago and rent was still way expensive... I looked up the prices again last year and they went down enormously, i was able to rent a 5 bedroom log house for 1,100/mo and moved my fam up here... Then the technology markets crashed on August 1st and since I was part of the worlds largest technical services firm, I was subsequently laid off in October.... I picked up a job with a 50% pay cut in Pomona because i'd rather stay here than move back to LA... Especially if the SHTF later this year or early next... Definitely a better place to survive if you have to—hopefully the economy turns around in the next year or so and I can think about finding a better job again...

I grew up in Ontario but haven't lived in Cally since the mid 70's... I think you made a smart choice for your family staying out of LA... Money is not everything in life...

I grew up in Ontario too, in the 70s/early 80s. Recently drove through during a So. Cal trip. Man oh man what a hole it's become. Visited Pomona too as a child, can only imagine what it's like now. That isn't living, people, gtfo. Jmho.

Kind of how I ended up in Vegas... Took a return trip to Ontario in 87 when I was considering a move back to a better climate from the eastern U.S. and said WTF... Place was a shithole already... Ended up in Vegas instead...

I've become more amused at their constant claims of doom than made afraid.

I have to agree. Been on these sites for damn near 10 years.

every prediction ive ever seen in my life about "DOOM" Events NEVER
HAPPEN. The only doom is what goes on in these peoples minds

For incurable Fringe Schizos ... Doom Delusion is exactly like Rapture Psychosis ...
The End is always Nigh ... it never shows up, of course ... but it is always "imminent"

Schizotypal personalities include:
o Feelings that external events have an unusual personal meaning
o Unusual thinking, beliefs, perceptions or behavior
o Suspicious or paranoid ideas
o Extreme emotional responses
o Excessive, persistent social anxiety
o Feelings of impending doom

Religious Psychosis, Schizophrenia and Paranoia

Models of religious fanaticism, such as Jesus and Mohammad, display
the classic symptoms of a religious type schizophrenia (hearing voices,
delusions of grandeur, hallucinations, sociopathy, paranoia, believing
that they have supernatural powers, etc.), thus religious fanatics
model themselves on classic religious schizophrenics.

With the religious paranoid, they are under the delusion that their
every thought and action is being watched 24 hours a day by someone
who can send them to Hell for the slightest infraction. In the world of
psychiatry this disorder is considered to be symptomatic of paranoia,
but in the world of religious fanaticism, this type of paranoia is encouraged
and even considered "normal".

Unfortunately, once you are profoundly paranoid, its grip will spread
to every corner of your life. This is clearly evidenced on the Internet
where many forums are devoted entirely to paranoid delusions and
their triggering by religious fanatics who are convinced not only that
the world is soon to end but that such an apocalypse is being brought
about intentionally by evil entities such as the Illuminati, the New World
Order, or even Alien Reptiles -- shape shifters in human form from
other planets who have infiltrated the highest levels of government.

"The Christian resolution to find the world ugly and bad
has made the world ugly and bad." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
