NORTHAMPTON, MA

A couple from Northampton is facing kidnapping and attempted murder charges after allegedly dragging a 9-year old girl by the hair and then hanging her from a tree by a jump rope. She was found with her toes barely touching the ground.

Lance Gouvan, 34, and Megan Bonny, 34, pleaded not guilty Friday afternoon during their arraignment in Northampton District Court. The couple are each charged with attempted murder, kidnapping of a child, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon: a rope, and two charges of assault and battery.

According to police, Gouvan and Bonny approached a 9-year-old girl jump-roping outside the Cutchins Center at 78 Pomeroy Terrace at about 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Police said Bonny instructed Gouvan to tie the victim to a tree. Gouvan dragged the victim by her hair some 20 feet and tied the jump-rope tightly around her neck and hanged her from the tree, police said. She was able to stand on her toes.

A staff member returning to the scene discovered the girl. She later identified the suspects, who police arrested after a 90 minute search.

They are being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Tuesday.

then don't accept the cookie lol..anyway my link shows a different pic of that guy..and apparently from the comments this guy was in the newspaper a little while back for cleaning up the woods or something..and the newspaper actually helped with a fundraiser

So this girl was near those woods when this pair attacked. I wonder shouldn't there be a fence at the very least? Especially in an area like that, especially when you're running a boarding school with 9 year old children that you leave unsupervised?

Not a surprise at all to me. Hanging a kid is something white psychos would do. If this was a black crime it would be a shooting.

If people would just study a little history of crime they would see a pattern of how black and white crime differ. If the crime is seriously freaky odds are it is a white person. Think Jeffry Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Richard Speck, Manson and so on. If it is ritualistic in any way suspect a white person. Jon Benet Ramsey!

If it is gun shot related out in the open suspect blacks.
