A HARD lashing instead of jail time
I remember, years ago there was a US teen that was sentenced (in another country) to 20 lashings for vandalism. It was all over the news that the punishment was too extreme because the boy would require several days of medical care to recover. There was a public uproar in the good old USA.

But, what if the US started lashing nonviolent convicted criminals instead of jail time. It would empty the jails and make criminals think twice before they committed another crime. This would reduce the cost of keeping prisoners and could be a strong deterrent for potential criminals.

What do you think?

What do i think.....

Well first thought is..

Im know other countries use this type of punishment, i wonder how it works for them?

Second thought is i would look that up if i did not already know it does not work very well.

Third thought is add a mixture of Americanness to the picture and you get an even more unstable system.

Id say its better than jail. Would you rather get locked up with no internet acess for a year or get hit a few times and then go home?

Our prisons have began using them as slave labor. They work for all sorts of corporations. So they want people in prison.

I'd take 20 lashings for a felony if it saved me a year in jail

RE: A HARD lashing instead of jail time
I'm for it... I think our laws here in the USA are too lenient

for example...

Rapists and Child Molestors should be castrated...and GPS device implanted so they could be tracked

but they call that too cruel
but they refuse to think of the kid or woman held against her will and raped or touched..

if we had strickter rules for SERIOUS crimes.. perpatrators would think twice.... ex... I could lose my dick..

just my 2 cents

Everytime we feel like we are "drowning" is life's situations... don't worry our savior walks on water

A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials.

Any kids caught vandalizing should have their thumbs cut off. Just try spraying paint without thumbs, punk.

RE: A HARD lashing instead of jail time
I think perhaps if we went back to common law and treated everybody equally, then we would not be in the mess we are in.

I do mean interpreting common law in the correct way also, not just making up silly satutes or acts to entrap more people. I believe if we hadequality and a more fair structure instead of the elites, rich and then the rest of us, the world would be far happier.

I think the usa is heading like the nazis did with their prisoners, have them working for the corporations etc for f.all.

ftw.

RE: A HARD lashing instead of jail time
i heard that prisons were started by the quakers as an experiment in their belief and to prove it the prisoner left alone in a cell with a bible would find god and forgive and commit no more crimes
