Daj and I PM'd briefly today and Brian was due to go back for follow-up surgery today but so far no news. And like Daj said, "No news is good news." He also mentioned how much he and the rest of the family appreciated the well-wishes of everyone here. I'm still holding out hope that the C&B opens up for a while tonight.

Tuesday March 15th UPDATE:

Brian is still holding his own ~ he battles infection, pneumonia. Doctors had feared he would need dialysis with rising creatinine levels ~ but they have peaked and are falling now. He is still intubated and mildly sedated ~ he is in a great deal of pain.

He also broke several ribs ~ either initial bullet wound or possibly ricochet ~ while it may have helped in sparing his life it is making coughing to clear the lungs extremely painful for him.

His 2nd surgery showed the 1st was successful and there was no hemorrhaging from any repairs made to his injured organs.

We are guardedly optimistic.

~ Sometimes the bar is loudly occupied by the most carefree, sometimes (ahhhh, 'cor bless 'em, in the case of th' Irish), it is quietly held in vigil for those heads-hung-low and attending wakes and observing the final goodbyes and last quaffs in the memory of the Dearly Departed...

~ IN THIS CASE, in so far as it seems (as per DaJ's ^update^), the tavern is perhaps best left between the two, in the hopes (and prayers) that it's doors will SOON be thrown open in CELEBRATION and JOY, once again... <3

Well cancel that! There's an update from Daj just a few posts above here. It sounds like Brian is close to "turning the corner".

It occured to me to invite everyone to park in the lot outside for a tailgate party. BYOB of course.

Hey Red, if Daj is still tied up this coming wednesday (oh, that is tomorrow already), I am sure he wouldn't mind a kegger in the parking lot. We have had several of those over the years, and can still be fun. Might be a good way to continue the vigil.
