Bsflag Religion and spiritual or supernatural things and events arguably dovetail with the 'secular' NWO conspiracy. I can understand people being frustrated with the religious v. anti-religious rancor, though. I guess that's part of the bargain until we can learn to conduct ourselves in a more mature and respectful dialogue process, more or less anonymously online. Banning, even temporarily, this subject is a bad idea, imo; however, I don't pay rent here so that is quite 'literally' my two cents Jhikpghf

Valid topics will pass. Threads like "Christians are stupid", "If you dont believe in god, you'll go to hell" and more of that blahblah, however will not.

Btw.. A lot of those are just troll threads, started by the same people who wanted to use LOP for their anti-jewish agenda. Baiting and trying to disrupt as a revenge is my guess..

Religion has many ties with conspiracy... Hard to discuss a lot of conspiracy theories without involving organized religions... Unfortunately, that is not the aspect of it being discussed here as of late...

I'd assume a tie to religion would be valid to stay. A thread about bible discussion either how right it is or how wrong wouldn't.

RE: A religion free weekend?
That would be a good norm policy, and it is generally upheld fairly well here, I think. When you're discussing philosophy, religion or metaphysical, etc., it can be a challenge to not try and negate someone else's beliefs, or superimpose one's own onto an assumption of truth about the nature of reality (particularly when one is of the evangelical persuasion). This can be a passionate subject and debate at times to, be sure, however trolling and obvious baiting threads should not be tolerated, particularly when they're abusive. And while discussions on Israel, Judaism and the Zionist ideological interpretations by conspiracy-minded peoples need not necessarily be out of bounds topics, they certainly can be instruments whereby illegal and unsavory anti-Semitism becomes the end result.

if the thread isn't really about religion but someone posts about religion in it , can the post be removed instead of the whole thread?

when does "weekend" start? just close or delete all including ones that were made day ago? If all are just closed, then they can be reopened once the weekend is done....

If the post is nothing more than preaching, not on-topic, it will be deleted.

Sad D, I'm very disappointed. Rather than censorship, why don't you encourage debate and conversation rather than hate. There are several religious/spiritual people here and only about 5 consistent bashers.

And to freebyrd, not all of us break the sabbath but the rest period is 1 day and the weekend is 2.

Right, your religion is that everything is unknown or unknowable, and you don't consider yourself to be preaching because your religion is the truth.
