I think it would help.

Was it painful?
Good idea on both points.

Bsflag Religion and spiritual or supernatural things and events arguably dovetail with the 'secular' NWO conspiracy. I can understand people being frustrated with the religious v. anti-religious rancor, though. I guess that's part of the bargain until we can learn to conduct ourselves in a more mature and respectful dialogue process, more or less anonymously online. Banning, even temporarily, this subject is a bad idea, imo; however, I don't pay rent here so that is quite 'literally' my two cents Jhikpghf

Let's ban drinking and posting, too, while we're at it! doomedScream1

Religion has many ties with conspiracy... Hard to discuss a lot of conspiracy theories without involving organized religions... Unfortunately, that is not the aspect of it being discussed here as of late...

I think the problem is,it is being discussed in any reasonable way.
Religious people naturally get defensive and anti religious people can't seem to keep it straight with discussing it without putting the people themselves down.
A real mess, but maybe a little break will get both sides to think.
Or maybe not. I get tired of the bashing even though I am not religious.I just think it is mean spirited and counter productive.

Jhikpghf Really tired of the bashing period.

Just because someone has a different opinion on ANYTHING doesn't mean that someone else can bash them.

It all comes down to respecting each other. There has been a marked increase in people bashing others when someone offers a different viewpoint. Perhaps that is why I have truly become blase about this forum...perhaps it is more a sense of futility. Trying to have a discussion/debate and it devolves into bashing, not an open exchange of ideas. Sigh S977

Sad D, I'm very disappointed. Rather than censorship, why don't you encourage debate and conversation rather than hate. There are several religious/spiritual people here and only about 5 consistent bashers.

And to freebyrd, not all of us break the sabbath but the rest period is 1 day and the weekend is 2.

You are asking the mods/admins to side with Christians...Is that the correct way to approach this subject? *this* is the reason that we are having to undergo this "religion free weekend". I still want to see a sub-thread for this kind of traffic. That way if folks want to E-kill each other over the topic they can do it away from the main purpose of this site. Just my opinion.

^THIS^ I am a Christian, and have noticed that Christian threads are always bombarded with the vitriol of non-Christians. Why is that? If they see the thread titles, why not just skip over them instead of deliberately being disruptive? And...why are they allowed to do this!

cuz this AINT the sunday school & bible thumper site S977

Then stay out of our "Sunday school". Simple enough. There aren't that many Christian threads, so what's your REAL complaint?

My complaint is that this constant belligerent attitude of "we have it right, and you are going to hell" has been mulled and fueled ad nauseum around here. If you aren't willing to talk, logically, rationally, and politely about the beliefs, that quite a few Christians choose to proselytize with, then there is no place for it on this board (IMHO of course). Trying to flame out on people and tell them they are going to hell, just because they don't believe the way that you do, and then crying to the mods about being bashed is getting tiresome. I personally feel that the Christians, Jews, Muslims and others are insane, and only "believe" what they do, due to indoctrination, fear, and loneliness....but then you don't see me starting threads (and YES there have been some out there) to tell Christians that they are going to be burning in some "hell" because they don't believe what I do. If I *did*, most, if not all, Christians on this board would be offended....and rightfully so. So when the shoe is on the other foot, and the judgement is flying....think about how you would feel if you were branded, castigated and crapped on before you make your statements to the contrary. I feel like the Christians of old, personally. Getting bashed for what I believe....castigated (even on a professional level) for not conforming to something that I feel is a farce....Sort of sad really.

To break the circle some people seem to be stuck in, i am thinking about a religion free weekend.

This would include both preaching and bashing. Both these things are not what LOP is intended for.

It's a noble suggestion but it'll never happen. Actually with the way things work around here, now that we've asked to have a religion free weekend, some d!ckheads will be determined to post more threads than ever. It's silly that we even have to ask for a weekend off from this garbage when it SHOULDN'T BE HERE AT ALL.

How bout a religion free planet.

Well, it seems that politics has caused many more problems than religion.
Lets remove politics. A politics free planet!
