Amazing, astounding, mind boggling. You've all said the only words I had. The implications of us better understanding light and harnessing it for tools are endless.

Literally seeing around a corner! Not a trick to see through walls or anything, but literally seeing light from around a corner yikes

Another great post Astro thank you!

Peace

the implications are a little scary as well, because you know who will have access to this technology first....

He explains that with such short exposure time there is hardly any light to capture. So a camera that can record like this is impossible as of now according to what this man said.

He said that they do millions of exposures of the same event with clever synchronization and then take the mountain of data they get from that and compile what they needed out of the mountain into one of these movies.

Smoke and mirrors folks.

that was for the imaging of the figure around the corner, not the light pulse through the coke bottle

but yes, thank goodness they can't easily do the around the corner imaging yet, think about those 30K drones and how they could look in your windows and whatnot.

Methinks that reflective window coatings will be all the rage when this technology gets going...

@ 9:34 of the video with the ripples going the WRONG way, because they are recording near the speed of light. Distorting Time!!

they can take pictures around corners with this.
i DID think it very naive of the speaker to talk about how it will be used to save lives.
way before that happens the military will be killing people with it :-(

The same video of a conventional bullet (instead of a "bullet" of light) would last one YEAR!

That is interesting . . .

They need to install those cameras inside every bank so that they can get better pictures than a smeared blur.

Amazing clever people, exciting times at MIT. So many applications.

Still like old school though...
