There's no way I'm going to pay for green energy AND pay a tax on everything I buy when I have not polluted. I know others who are doing the same.... so hows that pollution reduction scheme working for ya?

PS: Check out Norway which has had the CO2 tax for 10 years. Their carbon emissions are still rising year after year yet they're getting poorer. f*cking great solution, 'mate'.

If you are so hard up then you are entitled to compensation:

Blame succesive goverments for selling off the electrical grid to the highest bidder. One nationalized grid system incorporating all states and territories, with set prices. The same for the public transport sector as well. I would rather spend my tax dollars on this than housing welfare dependant dieased ravage illegals and supporting and subsidising dubious groups, "Lesbian Blind Skateboarding Assocaition of Bondi" or some shit like that.

All natural resources and energy production should be in Australian hands, not foreign corporations. If they want it then they pay us for it. Australia is just a resource clearing house for the rich, and foreign global corporations. Australians are not benefitting from the resources boom. We are taxed to the hilt and everyday we hear of more jobs going either overseas or gone altogether. Now they want to bring in more cheap foreign workers.

All sides of the political spectrum have lied to us. Labor and Liberal are nothing but the same political party and do not represent anyone but their political and finacial masters. Everyone should just vote donkey in the next election as the candiates who will be allowed to stand are either crazy or just corrupt party hacks. If the greens have their way the flood gates to illegals will be open (f*ck me parts of Melbourne are flooded with the Tea Towels and their Ned Kellys just drive around the Northern Suburbs)
And heaven help any of the last jobs remaining in the manufacturing sector, all sides seem determined to eventualy eradicate these.

The large corporations have sold Australia down the toilet. Cheap nasty asian imports of goods and cheap nasty imports of people from the Sub Continent and Middle East.

Carbon is the quantifiable ingredient in pollution from fossil fuels which is why it is used.

Do you think the economic system we have in place is sustainable? is always going to bring prosperity?

Changes are needed whether we want them or not (very few people actually want them). Yes there will be teething trouble with any change, but that's what you have to go through to get to the other side of change.

Tax may not have fixed anything but it can alter behaviour and awareness about things. A nudge here, a nudge there and maybe you might get the message (well, not you, obviously).

You are correct but at a very petty level.

It's like cigarettes, it isn't the nicotine that does the damage it's all the carriers and other chemicals, but we still measure the potential harm by nicotine content. Because nicotine is measurable and comparable.
