I've got friends in Birmingham and Huntsville...the H-ville kids checked in, but we haven't heard a word from the B-ham people.

My husband's family is from the Arab, AL area (sounds like HAY-rabb without the H). We're hearing word that as many as 6 people died there. All of Hubby's uncles and cousins are there, and we can't get in touch with anyone.

One of my mom's family in WV just came out of the basement. They are all okay. Phew! The ones in Huntington are good, too. My PA family is in direct line and we haven't heard from them. My OH cousin just sent me a message...a tree fell on her garage and another wiped out her porch...but SHE is good.

My "adopted" daughter is in GA and the storms are passing over her right now. She's 7mos pregnant.

And now it's heading for VA? I've got more family AND friends directly in the paths of these storms.

It's going to be a long night.

My prayers and thoughts go out to EVERYONE impacted by these storms.

I haven't heard from my Arab relatives or the ones near the nuke plant.
My immediate family around B'ham have all checked in. There are still lots of friends I haven't heard from.

One friend lost his Father last week and today his Mom has a huge tree through her house.

Tissue I'm a little tense and bitchy right now. Tissue

TALON:
I had no idea you had family up there. My thoughts and prayers are with you. We haven't heard a word from the Arab folk. Hubby's cousin is here in TX for about a week more and goes back midweek. Hubby was able to get a text in right after we heard about Arab, but we haven't heard back. I sure do understand the tension you are under!

Hugs

Just sayin' it's not some unreal event that's never happened in the history of mankind.

Nor is it some kind of plot by 'tptb' using weather manipulation.

If people need to tell themselves that......cool.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't run like a spork if you hear one's coming.

I know, I'm just confrontational today. Come to think of it, I've been that way a lot lately. Oh God I think I'm turning into a troll!

Tissue

I know someone is going to blame HAARP for this. Jhikpghf

http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/sci...ntimatter/

Jan. 11, 2011: Scientists using NASA's Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope have detected beams of antimatter produced above thunderstorms on Earth, a phenomenon never seen before.

Scientists think the antimatter particles were formed inside thunderstorms in a terrestrial gamma-ray flash (TGF) associated with lightning. It is estimated that about 500 TGFs occur daily worldwide, but most go undetected.

"These signals are the first direct evidence that thunderstorms make antimatter particle beams," said Michael Briggs, a member of Fermi's Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) team at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). He presented the findings Monday, during a news briefing at the American Astronomical Society meeting in Seattle.

This is real craziness. I hope all of our Alabama posters find themselves safe today.

All these videos keep reminding me of this:

Why did the media downplay the previous tornado swarm? Raleigh was hit hard. Why did they downplay the destruction in St. Louis? It was like, "Tornadoes hit airports everyday! Nothing to see here!"

The pending destruction of the New Madrid levee is a minor blip in the news. I can not even get a grasp of how many areas are experiencing flooding as the news is ignoring the story.

I worry already that our resources are stretched too thin and we still have a long way to go in tornado season. The timing of these tornadoes so close to The Great Shakeout is not comforting!

Does anyone else get the feeling that the government knows there will be historic natural disasters and doesn't want to panic the masses?
