Fact: To become a seal hunter and obtain a license, you must apprentice under a professional sealer for at least two years, in order to receive the proper training and skills.

Fact: More and more hunters are switching to high powered rifles as the ice floes of the North Atlantic have been becoming less stable are making it more difficult to get up close to the seals to use the hakapik.

TEPCO says it 'no longer owns' Fukushima fallout

"In defending a lawsuit from a Fukushima Prefecture golf club, lawyers said the radioactive cesium that had blighted the Sunfield Nihonmatsu golf course's fairways and greens was the club's problem. The utility has taken a similarly hard line defending claims from ryokan (inn) and onsen (spa) owners.

TEPCO's lawyers used the arcane legal principle of res nullius to argue the emissions that escaped after the tsunami and earthquake triggered a meltdown were no longer its responsibility. "Radioactive materials (such as cesium) that scattered and fell from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant belong to individual landowners, not TEPCO," the utility told Tokyo District Court.
The chief operating officer of the prestigious golf course, Tsutomo Yamane, told The Australian that he and his staff were stunned: "I couldn't believe my ears. I told my employees, 'TEPCO is saying the radiation doesn't belong to them', and they said 'I beg your pardon'."

The court rejected TEPCO's argument, but ruled it was the responsibility of local, prefectural and national governments to clean it up.

The case - and the club's bid for $160 million in clean-up costs - has proceeded to the High Court amid fears the ruling could result in some local governments being bankrupted."

We are talking about what killed 130 seals, right? Is the most likely culprit Fukushima? Not by a long shot. There may be 300 man made causes that are more serious.

Those deaths "could be" caused by cognitive dissonance. Or cancer courtesy of the ignored but probably lethal DCDD components of Asian Orange.

Or even mercury or lead poisoning from coal fired power plants.

Among the tens of thousands of different environmental poisons mankind visits upon the oceans it would be foolish to assume that radiation poisoning is killing anything until there is a significant reason to draw that conclusion.

Not saying Fukushima radiation isn't working it's way up the oceanic food chain, and I stopped eating seafood myself, but we pour so many gazzillion gallons of poisoned water into the oceans each year that Fukushima isn't even a significant relative threat.

We contaminate the oceans with more radioactivity from ordinary mining and farming than Fukushima will ever do.

But but but ...we have to pour a gazzillion gallons of poisons into the oceans. Why you ask ? Because someone has a job making those poisons and we all know that jobs equal life and nothing else does.

We need poisons. How will our society function without poisons. How will the poison makers feed their families when they can't get any paychecks making the poisons if God forbid they were stopped from making those toxins. Oh my God won't someone please think of the jobs and money. The great sources of life.

Not that I'm here to diminish the effects from Fukushima, but the locations of the sores on the animals were on their backs...indiciating, more likely, their deaths were due to solar radiation leaking through the failing magnetosphere rather than Fuku radiation which one would assume would have the sores uniformly on their bodies....

Still, not good.

It's a classic propaganda technique to compare the obvious ill effects of one disaster to disasters of the past and claim they were worse. The world hasn't experienced anything like Fukushima in the last 5,000 years or so. Don't kid yourself.
