This video shows Daniel Ackerman, Assistant Principal of I.S. 339, proudly demonstrating his ability to use his public school's network to anonymously watch students using their laptops. At one point, he even unashamedly snaps a picture on a girl's laptop while she is using the computer as a mirror. This is an incredibly creepy and troubling overreach.

And here's a question, are the students informed that they will be spied on when they take these computers?

So, a 15 year old student has laptop turned on, finishes school work, showers and gets dressed to go out to eat with her folks. Do they arrest the teachers that had links up to their comps while they did this, or do the charge the kids with distributing child porn? Silly thing is that none of the kids probably have a clue what the 4th amendment is/says, nor do the teachers.
Another question, if someone were to give away 1000 computers to underage kids, and it turns out the computers were programmed to be able to "watch" what the kids were doing through the cameras, and then they got caught, what type of charges would be brought against them? Might as well set up a "public shower" at the beach with small print saying "we may or may not be watching./recording this"

Hey, i have a laptop I would like to give you. By the way, since it is "mine", I may or may not take pictures of you while you are getting dressed/undressed, or watch you make out with your boyfriend/girlfriend, but since your parents couldn't afford to buy you a new computer for school, you will have to "agree" that I have the right to do this. Oh, did I also mention I might hit you if I show up drunk to work, but then again, you gave up all rights when you accepted this job. There's definitely an element of that in the video as he is watching girls doing their hair in real time. The guy has a slimey grin on his face and the interviewer just sits there mildly shocked but not making an issue of it.
If you're not creeped out when you watch that I don't know what's wrong with you.
