try demonoid out, they usually have some good stuff there.
Yep, I get most of my books from Demonoid. I almost
never fail to find what I'm looking for.

Demonoid is good but its hard to get an account - you have to be invited - and they don't have any tags for a conspiracy search.

RE: Best Alternative Book, eBook or Torrent sites?
I used to get books from filestube and 4shared, but recently they have begun to require registration, and the way things are now I do not care to get my name on a list.

There used to be a site with a list of "banned books" which you could download for free no questions asked. I just took about everything just last week. Today I try to go there to post a link for y'all and it's gone!
I don't know if it was just an unauthorized redirect because I did not note the actual name of the site. It's in my favs and I just click the link.
Gone!?

This is a site well worth the time it takes to explore and I did download tons of stuff from there recently too. They have some books, some book excerpts and many, many good articles on many subjects.

There is also http://www.edocfind.com/
I don't know if they now require registration or not. Last time I looked for something they didn't have it.

I got a warning letter about 5 months ago from at&t for using torrents..so I cancelled and went DSL and back to NNTP plus i like dedicated 15mb/s
I might do that too. So far nothing from AT&T, but then I don't use
Demonoid like I used to, and never for anything popular or recent.
I think using PeerBlock helps a lot, but I dread the new measures
they are supposed to start in a couple of months. ALL the TV shows
I watch I get from private trackers so I hope that keeps them off
my back. At least its a "6 strikes" policy.

If they are going to do it in house funded by the MPAA and RIAA then I dont know what might stop them..If they are going to scan packets they certainly cannot scan evereryone.. Gigabytes has a VPN service for $25 but that pisses me off..I dont d/l too much just divx and a few flacs..e-books ect..i don't mind $10 but $25...then upped to $35 I'll go back to IRC or figure something out..
They are serious this time and well funded...
Like you said, the 6 stike policy is a good deal..

i wonder how all these Usenet sites will survive after July

Had a strange thing happen last night. None of the new trackers
for uploads would update. Anyone who's good with torrents please
check this thread out and tell me what you think:

Just type what you want in the links below for full books on anything.

Take a trip back to the 1900's:

To explore the1800's:

Venture Back in Time to the 1700's:

Were there books in the 1600's?:

New Feature!!! Search through the Newspaper archives! Some results will pull up webpages and others will bring actual scanned newspapers. Play around with the date settings on the left side of the screen:

Is usenet free?

Whats the best usenet site for Mac?

Easynews or gigabyte... $10 a month..easynews u can bill to ur phone if no vredit card...u get 25g a month with rollover..plus that's a a lot of e-books

Use NNTP..not the web based option some offer..Yo'll need a client program, and winrar.and that's about it...sounds diff..but it's really easy..been using NNTP for almost 20 years

Good search sites.
http://binsearch.info/index.php?adv_sort=date

https://www.nzbclub.com/search.aspx

I use Astraweb, $8/month unlimited but that was a holiday deal i got. They have GB block packages that work great for people who do not want a monthly bill. Ive used all the big NNTP servers and they are all about the same. Easynews is quite light on the GB, they are one of the first i used, if you plan to d/l a lot stay away from them.

Im also still a newzbin user, only use a prepaid card with them. I used to know Caesium, the original site owner, but i do not know the new folks.

There are always torrents but there is great risk with them as well. They dont bust a lot of people but if you should happen to be one of them you cant say you werent warned. The only torrents i d/l or seed are legal torrents, linux distro's, radio shows, etc.

@FaFaFooey- thanks for the info on the converter, it works great. I converted 100's of pdf's to mobi files and was able to change the font size and tweak some of the other settings. Im not sure which kindle doesnt read pdf's, mine does and it is the basic model meaning no touch screen but the converter is excellent! It wasnt necessary to convert the files but it saves time in having to adjust font sizes on the machine. And if anyone is a B&N owner you are going to need to convert everything as their reader only reads their formats.

Huh?

My wife's Nook Color reads .pdf and .epub natively. In fact early Kindles were what had issues with formats.
