Well I suppose I became a fan of the show after watching Antiques Roadshow on PBS...I learned so much about art and history and tea sets and Navajo blankets and crazy things that I thought some looked like crap and turned to be worth tons of $$.

Now Pawn Stars show comes along and these guys know their stuff with people bringing in antique weaponry, treasure chests from old Spanish galleons, artists collectibles, old Coca cola machines, boats, helicopters, too name a few, with the glitz and vibe of Vegas. And I learn a lot from that show too.

And the cast is definitely a bunch of unique characters.

I love history so it is to me.

vv

I for the most part only watch shows that are on the history chanel so I also find that aspect of the show to be entertaining... My favorite though has to be American Pickers which is also on the history chanel... Looks like those guys are having too much fun traveling around the country and picking through those pile of junk and coming up with treasures... Would be a cool way to make a living...

You might be able to make a living like that solo, but splitting the income between a few people...idk. I think they can pull it off because they have a TV show/history channel paying them.

That would be Rick's son, Corey..He would be gorgeous if he lost 175 pounds. heehee

I love that show too lol

I have no judgment here...being a teevee celebrity you're bound to attract a negative element.

People who say they are arrogant probably have no idea how much bs walks into their business everyday with people trying to get over. I can't even imagine what it's like to own a pawn shop on the Strip. Yes it's down a ways, between the Stratosphere and downtown if I'm not mistaken, kind of a no man's land.

Having said that, let me go read OP's article chuckle

i like pawn stars. much more enjoyable than watching hardcore pawn. now that is ghetto.

Exalted is He from what they utter. Exalted is He from what they imagine. Exalted is He that exists without a place. Exalted is He that was there forever without a time or a beginning. Exalted is He that will be there forever without a time or an end. Exalted is He that will forever be praised. That is your God.

The American Pickers guys are shysters. I know this because I know people who know them in RL, and they have told me they're shysters, and I've SEEN them play dumb on the show with people when they find something ANYONE in that business knows is worth big bucks. I also firmly believe they flat-out LIE at the end when they "tabulate" the day's pick and lie state what they sell the item for. Usually, it's half or more less than what the item would truly sell for. But hey- who ever said "reality" tv was actually "real"?

"Hardcore Pawn"? Jeez, could they get any less original on the name-swipe, there? No wonder it sucks- ripoffs usually do. Storage Wars is a good one, too...

Actually, I guess the monetary aspect never entered my mind but they seem to double their money at least on everything so maybe it works out....

I was thinking more along the line of twisting up a fattie and listening to tunes while tooling around the country... Then you get to stop and meet some really unique individuals from various walks of life and root through their goodies...

Then you jump back in the van, twist up another fattie, throw in a CD, set the cruise and head for Kansas or some other God forsaken farmland...

On second thought, I think I'll just kick it here in Vegas... chuckle

I hear ya DOL, and I've watch pickers a few times - sure they are hucksters and good at what they do or there wouldn't be a show with them!

having said that, they go to these hoarders (mostly) places and give them some cash to enjoy in their old age, otherwise that old rusted bike from the 1940's aint going anywhere after they die except in a landfill.

As far as the tabulation - I have no idea.

(signing off shortly fyi)
