RE: Bus Explodes in London!!!
do they run on gas?

Unfortunately, not an unheard of phenomena here....

for example [from october last year]:

"...Sydney public transport has been thrown into chaos, with 700 gas-powered buses taken out of service because of safety concerns from drivers.

The Rail, Tram and Bus Union says the decision was made after video was obtained today of an incident involving a State Transit Authority Bus in July.

Union secretary Chris Preston has told ABC 702 Sydney the footage shows it was more than just a fire as had originally been thought.

"Today a member of the public came in with a video," Mr Preston said.

"The bus actually explodes. It's dangerous. It nearly hit a car travelling past at the same time."

Mr Preston says gas-powered buses account for about 30 per cent of the State Transit Authority fleet and there will be significant disruption.

He says there have previously been incidents in Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland.

"We apologise for any impact to the public, but once you see the devastation that the fire caused and the rapidness of it, you wouldn't want to be in it," he said.

"You wouldn't want to have your children in there or any passenger. The way this thing exploded was ridiculous..."

RE: Bus Explodes in London!!!
There must be something in the makeup of buses that makes them susceptible to things like this. There was an incident recently in the States of a school bus that caught fire, iirc it had something to do with the wiring/structure of the vehicle. Think I've heard mention of these inherent dangers in the past as well. Maybe someone with real knowledge can chime in here.
