I have no hope for humanity, and no sympathy for people that pay for something you can get for free!
Why do people buy bottled water for more money than gas?
Plus its in a plastic bottle made with B.P.A. Bisphenol A.

RE: CHINA'S DRAINING LAKE MICHIGAN?
Actually TTR, it's Nestle that's draining it.....and has been.

Here is a little information about where Nestle's "Ice Mountain" bottled water is sourced from, and some of the conflict revolving around their disputed 'emptying' of the Great lakes aka "The Basin".

In 2006 George Bush passed the Great Lakes Compact, a set of agreements that was supposed to safeguard and maintain this area of water that holds 20 percent of the world's freshwater.

The Compact included a loophole that, according to the Michigan Land Use Institute, "undermines the structure and purpose of the Compact by stating that the term “diversion” does not apply to “water produced in the basin and used ‘in or as’ a product and transferred outside of the basin." This sentence opens the door for exports of water as a “product.” This means that if water is produced and labeled as a product, it can go out of the Great Lakes basin without a limitation on the size of the container or quantity. The problem with the loophole is that we’ve created a situation where water can be labeled as a product, transferring its public protection to private control using the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and other agreements to suck water out of the Great Lakes Basin."

Basically what the quote is saying is that the loophole allows for Great Lakes water to be labelled a commodity, that our public water supply, Lake Michigan, is being tapped and sold to Nestle for a very low price, flipped for an incredible profit (The Free Press, 2006):

The new Michigan law allows Nestle Corporation to continue its five-year takings of up to 250,000 gallons per day and sell them at a markup well over 240 times its production cost. Nestle's profit from drawing this water could be from $500,000 to $1.8 million per day. A key proviso is that the bottles can be no larger than 5.7 gallons apiece.

Bulk water exports
As recently as October 2009, the Montreal Economic Institute proposed a plan for $20 billion in annual bulk water sales to the United States. That plan involved building six pumping stations in Quebec to bring the water uphill, then south along the Bell River, ending up in Val d’Or. From there it would be pumped overland to the upper Ottawa River, which begins in Quebec and flows west to the Ontario border before turning south to Lake Timiskaming. The Ottawa Citizen reported that, “The plan to export water south from the upper lakes such as Michigan and Huron would be taking water from above the level of Niagara Falls. The St. Lawrence, where the proposed new water supply would arrive, is hundreds of feet lower in elevation, and thousands of kilometres away.”

Barlow also notes in Blue Covenant that, “In (1998 in) Ontario, Nova Group of Sault Ste. Marie obtained a license from Mike Harris’ Conservative government to export six hundred million litres of water a year from Lake Superior by tanker to Asia. This was met with a firestorm of protest from the Council of Canadians, communities around the Great Lakes on both sides of the border and from then secretary of state Madeleine Albright, who rightly claimed that the United States had shared jurisdiction with Canada over Lake Superior. The license was revoked.”

The Great Lakes are a touchy issue between Canada and the US.

Also from the above link:

US Coast Guard weapons testing
Barlow also notes in Blue Covenant a campaign the Council of Canadians actively pursued. “In 2006, the US government announced plans to have the US coast guard patrol the Great Lakes using machine guns mounted on their vessels and revealed that it had created thirty-four permanent live-fire training zones along the Great Lakes from where it had already conducted a number of automatic weapons drills, firing three thousand lead bullets each time into the lake. Due to fierce opposition, the Bush administration has temporarily called off these drills but is clearly asserting US authority over what has been in the past considered joint waters.”

The government's protecting their new gold. I just posted this from another site, as I thought it was interesting. It's been known long ago that one day, water would be in short supply.

It's funny to me that people don't want to admit that we are running out of resources. It's not all a ploy for profit....(even though some of it is)....it's actual fact.

It's my belief that we had a limited amount of basic resources like oil, wood etc. that were to last mankind through the developmental stages of early evolution until we could come up with better. We have since devised much cheaper and more environmentally friendly methods while using less of our resources, but tptb have a stranglehold on everything because they are only interested in profits.

Take away greed, and we'd be ok.
