Can you fail a drugs test if you use hemp oil to cook?

Serious question - I have a medical coming up and I cannot afford to take any risks.

I haven't smoked weed in years, but use hemp oil to cook with, purely to receive the essential fatty acids, cannabinoids and whatever else is in there purely for health benefits. There's no THC in hemp oil, so I'm not consuming it to get high. I am solely interested in benefits to my immune system.

I have my medical this week, and it's just suddenly dawned on me that I might fail because of this. It may also be too late to do something about it. I'm about 150/160lbs, 5'11", under 40 yrs old and have little body fat.

I just didnt think about it before, partly because I know I'm not breaking any laws and therefore, why would I? As the saying goes, 'if you're not doing anything wrong you dont have anything to worry about'. But that just might no hold true in this case.

I know that when they test for drug use, they're not looking for the drugs, they're looking for metabolites, that have broken a compound down in order to be disposed by the body.

If honest, hemp oil isnt even that great to cook with and has a grassy taste, as in the grass on your lawn taste, but I overlook it in favour of health benefits. Kinda like swallowing medicine.

I'm not a stoner looking to beat system, so would appreciate serious answers on this.

Thanks in advance....

Hemp-seed oil is available as a nutritional supplement and may be used to make cakes, cookies, cheese and bread. Eating these foods, however, can result in a drug test positive for marijuana.

Hemp oil? Like honey oil? That is almost pure THC so I am thinking you are referring to something else. I honestly don't know but if it is just hempseed oil than it is supposed to have very little THC and be virtually impossible to cause a positive result on its own.

Just to be on the safe side I would stop using it untill after your drug test just in case.

Well they say it is rare but it can cause a positive test for marijuana, best to stop using it now but also to tell the testing place that you use it to cook with at the time of your test just in case.

:( really?

Then WHY ARE YOU?

This is really basic math here.

If you cannot afford to take the risk DONT, use some other f*cking oil until after the test.

Or i know how about you log onto the internet and ask a forum full of people who do not care about facts what they think about it, that would not be a risk at all mrs medical student.

f*cking bash my skull in if this is the type of mentality that will finish medical school.

TERRIBLE IDEA!!!
If they drug-test you can safely assume that the company is strongly anti-drug so do not under any circumstances admit that you use marijuana products in any way shape or form!

Most civillians no nothing about cannabis and cannot tell the difference between what's a drug and what's not, they will simply assume that you are some kind of dodgy drug user.

Why be a mental midget and isolate one line from the whole post?

You don't think I've already looked online and found a bunch of contradictory responses????

Like I said, I don't consume THC which is what people abuse marijuana for. Therefore when doing no wrong and breaking no laws, why would it have crossed my mind?

I was hoping someone, just someone on here may have actual real, quantifiable experience and knowledge on the subject. Is it too much to ask?

Which someone on here has thankfully provided before you decided to join the thread and act like a tool.

This from the livestrong site, from a dept of defense employee who also used to be a drug/alcohol abuse officer in the airforce:

"I work for the Department of Defense and was finally selected for random urinalysis after 18 years. I wasn’t the least bit worried – until that night when I went home to fix a fruit shake in which I use your hemp protein powder. As I took it out of the refrigerator, it suddenly occurred to me that it has a very small amount of THC in it. Having been a drug/alcohol abuse officer in the Air Force years ago, I understood the potential implications, including the fact that THC is detectable far longer than many drugs of abuse. I called Nutiva the next day, and was told that because you can’t ever know what other behaviors a customer may be engaging in, you cannot say for certain that your products could not cause a positive urinalysis for THC. However, I was assured that it was HIGHLY unlikely by itself – especially the protein powder because of the way it’s processed (i.e. lower oil content than some other products). I promised to provide you with feedback either way my test turned out. My understanding is that the Department of Defense uses state-of-the-art testing. I passed, despite using your hemp protein powder multiple times every week for months. I know it’s no guarantee, but it may relieve others who are not using illegal substances but who may be using your products, and become concerned about drug testing. Thanks."

there......wasn't too difficult was it?

and who said i was a female medical student???? Firstly, I'm a man, secondly I'm an MD for a record company. And who said anything about microbes??? You really need to read properly before letting loose on a keyboard. It's just a medical exam, that 'may' involve a drug test. And clearly I've stopped using it when I realised. Trouble is, when you're cooking you pull ingredients out on auto-pilot. Just like the airforce officer did. I'm also new to US and dont have a doctor or medical insurance yet, so what professional can I go see for advice?

But hey, from seeking to try and expose flaws in my mentality, you've only exposed the flaws in yours.

Good day.
