Chicago Shootings: 3 Dead, 7 Wounded In Overnight Friday Gun Violence

Three people were killed and seven others injured in shootings Friday evening into Saturday morning in Chicago, continuing what has already been a bloody spring in the Second City.

David Loggins, 52, of the 6500 block of South Champlain Avenue, was shot in the neck at 1:23 a.m. Saturday in the 6400 block of South Langley Avenue, police say, and was pronounced dead at the scene, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The Chicago Tribune reports that a 31-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the torso in his cab near the intersection of Racine Avenue and 69th Street. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and pronounced dead there at about 3:45 a.m. His identity has not yet been released.

Elsewhere in the city, a 21-year-old woman was shot multiple times in the 3900 block of West 19th Street in the city's Lawndale neighborhood around 4:30 a.m., according to the Sun-Times. She was pronounced at Mount Sinai Hospital and her identity has also not yet been made public. ...

I thought I read somewhere that the homicide rate for Chicago so far this year is over double what it was last year? Do I remember that correctly? 1dunno1

Sad, we were thinking of taking the kids into Chicago sometime over the summer to see the Shed, the Museum (Sue) and just explore Chicago. We had taken the train the last time (about 4 years ago) into Chicago, but, honestly, I would be VERY leary of repeating that trip again as the train goes through some really seedy looking areas. doomed

The crime in Chicago has been crazy this year... I pray for its residents. I went there a couple summers ago; VERY nice city. The violence needs to be put to an end.

Also. Over 500 black people shot in Chicago in just the past three months alone, many of them children or even BABIES, but not a damn word from all the people making such a big deal over Trayvon, whose killing may or may not be proven to be justified, just because they were shot by other black people. If violence is keeping black people down, then it's the black on black violence that's doing it.

Yes I have not been to the shed since they rebuilt it. If you took the train that goes down the Kennedy expressway you were safe. As you go down from the airport you are in the middle of the expressway Then there are a section of subway which comes out of the ground in Logan square and becomes a elevated section. This section looks worse than it is because you are elevated above a Chicago alley. It is actually a fairly good section of the city. The train then becomes a subway again, passes under a bad section then you are downtown.

So when you ride the subway or walk in Chicago there are some rules to stay safe. One thing is no purses the ladies wear a belt bag around their waist instead of purses. If you are a man no wallets in the back pocket upper coat pocket is better. If you are a woman no necklesses or earrings. They will pull a ear ring right off your ear or a neckless across your neck. You should walk faster then everyone else is walking, they pick on the slow.

They have changed dinosaurs since I was a kid sue is the new dinosaur. They had the wrong head on the old dinosaur.

Not all the murders are black. It might be 60% blacks 40% other so maybe 300 blacks and 200 other. Anyways all the races bleed the same red when shot and they all grieve for their dead family....

Anyways it is a govermental system problem and not a race problem...

This government is trying to divide the people against one another. that is what the Liberal vs Conservative and Black vs White thing is about. Too many people have become aware of what they are doing and they are trying to put up a diversion to keep people from concentrating on the real problem...

My point is that these people pretend to care about black people by making a big deal out of one white-on-black crime while ignoring a real issue in the community which is black-on-black crime
