Yes I have not been to the shed since they rebuilt it. If you took the train that goes down the Kennedy expressway you were safe. As you go down from the airport you are in the middle of the expressway Then there are a section of subway which comes out of the ground in Logan square and becomes a elevated section. This section looks worse than it is because you are elevated above a Chicago alley. It is actually a fairly good section of the city. The train then becomes a subway again, passes under a bad section then you are downtown.

So when you ride the subway or walk in Chicago there are some rules to stay safe. One thing is no purses the ladies wear a belt bag around their waist instead of purses. If you are a man no wallets in the back pocket upper coat pocket is better. If you are a woman no necklesses or earrings. They will pull a ear ring right off your ear or a neckless across your neck. You should walk faster then everyone else is walking, they pick on the slow.

They have changed dinosaurs since I was a kid sue is the new dinosaur. They had the wrong head on the old dinosaur.

Sad, we were thinking of taking the kids into Chicago sometime over the summer to see the Shed, the Museum (Sue) and just explore Chicago. We had taken the train the last time (about 4 years ago) into Chicago, but, honestly, I would be VERY leary of repeating that trip again as the train goes through some really seedy looking areas.

We took the South Shore line from South Bend. Here's the map.



Just going through Gary is a little nerve wracking, much less Chicago. Ever since we moved to the boonies from a major metropolitan area you can actually feel the tension and anger in the air in any larger city. We went to Fort Wayne yesterday and we all commented on feeling people's anger, even our 6 year old. He repeatedly kept saying, "can we go home yet? Why are people so mad?"
