Proof that a part of the American society is sinking into the Dark Age: ignorance, excessive religious zeal, superstitions, xenophobia, homophobia and anti-humanism are getting ever more rampant.
All of that... Because we support a business owner having the right to free speech, just like anyone else???
And do you really think those people were showing up to support free speech or just speech they agree with? There is a reactionary force in America that seems to feel threatened by any and all change and the push for civil rights by gays and lesbians seems like the last straw to them. But the history of this country is one of ever widening inclusion. They are on the wrong side of history, but of course they can eat wherever they choose.

Elizabeth, you support rights of those with whom you agree with while denying it to the others.
I support anyone to have an opinion on ANYTHING. It's just that, an opinion.
I do not believe this man should be silent on his beliefs simply because he owns a business. If you do not like it, then do not go there. But the minute that city governments attempt to step in, and prevent this man from earning a living and expanding his business, based solely on his Christian Beliefs... Sorry I have a problem with that!
Firstly, the issue isn't freedom of speech but funding organizations denying other people's common human right - marriage isn't a special right, FYI.
Secondly, if the Chicago mayor's (not the "government" as you alleged) political platform is equal right for all (including "abominations" AKA homosexuals) than he has to stand for it.
Shortly, you don't support "freedom of speech" but funding of organizations denying other people's rights.
Fear is the lengthened shadow of ignorance.

Secondly, if the Boston mayor's (not the "government" as you alleged)
This only highlights part of the futility here.
You write that with the assumption that like yourself that person would read it and say, "oh well i guess it is more accurate to state its simply the boston mayor and not the government as a whole".
But that is not the way it goes down, people like that poster do not consider anything that was actually written.
It will be simply skimmed over and ignored.

YES! Many were...

Even some people who oppose Cathy's views didn't feel the need to boycott the restaurant, especially if those views don't lead to discrimination against customers or employees.
"I don't agree with the owners' beliefs, but they publicly state that they will serve all who enter the door," CNN commenter Doug Barger said.
"I believe in religious freedom," the Greenwood, Ohio, resident wrote in an e-mail. "Because the owner's personal opinions differ from mine points to a healthy society."
For many, Cathy's views are secondary to his right express them, even among members of the LGBT community.
"Mr. Cathy has been unfairly attacked for his statement that he doesn't support same-sex marriage," said Matt Zieminski, a 20-year-old iReporter from California.
"As a gay man, I say, let him not support gays. When the gay community and gay activist groups push on anti-gay people and organizations to change their minds and opinions via bullying or forced involvement, I fear it would make whatever accomplishments taste cheap like a greasy coin. Ultimately, the acceptance of the gay community and the right of gays to marry will not be achieved through violent means, physical and verbal, but through peaceful and honest negotiations."
"Lest we be 'terrified by our adversaries,' it is well to remember that Satan’s power is not inherent but permitted (Romans 13:1). It is not unlimited, but controlled (Job 1:12; 2:6). It is not invincible, but broken (Luke 11:21-11). It is not assured of success, but is surely doomed "(Revelation 20:2-3)

So did the CEO of Chick-Fil-A beat that person up???
Seriously I had not heard that?
No in all seriousness... To lay that horrendous beating of that person at the feat of a Business Owner, or All Christians... IS IGNORANT!

so a terrorist who just funds the bombing of a village, is innocent because he didnt carry in the bomb?
There is a huge difference in BOMBING A VILLAGE, and Holding an opinion on gay marriage. If someone is a true Christian, they would no more physically attack someone for their lifestyle choices then you would!
So yet again... Your attacks are completely unfounded.

I know; that's the key problem with belief-oriented folks: they don't care about facts and reason.

And it is just as much his right as a citizen to fund whomever he likes.
UNLIKE... An actual politician who has the ability to influence whether or not this man can actually do business.

So no apology for your troll move of chuckling at my source without taking a moment to see if the information was valid, and sourced from several news outlets?

RE: Chick-fil-A 'Set a World Record' Yesterday!
The Buddhist view of marriage considers marriage a secular affair and as such, it is not considered a sacrament. Buddhists are expected to follow the civil laws regarding marriage laid out by their respective governments.
In contrast to Buddhism in Asia, modern Buddhism in the Western world is typically associated with a concern for social equality—partly as a result of its largely middle-class intellectual membership base, and its philosophical roots in freethought and secular humanism.[57] When applying Buddhist philosophy to the question of homosexuality, western Buddhists often emphasize the importance the Buddha placed on tolerance, compassion, and seeking answers within one's self. They stress these overarching values rather than examining specific passages or texts. As a result, western Buddhism is often relatively gay-friendly, especially since the 1990s. As interpretation of what is sexual misconduct is an individual decision and not subject to judgment by any central authority, a view of accepting all peoples, but rejecting certain types of sexual acts is more predominant.
I like the buddhists they really dont give a shit about that stuff!

OMG.... i have never seen you write a single thing that was not directly copy paste quoted from SOMEONE ELSE, and you want to claim others have an agenda?
You think you have the monopoly on "what is right and wrong" but others have an agenda?
