(Reuters) - China warned its citizens in Manila to stay off the streets and take precautions during planned anti-Chinese protests on Friday, a sign of mounting tensions during a standoff in the resource-rich South China Sea.

The planned protest of about 1,000 people could heighten tensions between China and the Philippines over what is known as the Scarborough Shoal in English and Huangyan island in Chinese in the southeastern region of the disputed waters.

On Tuesday, China's embassy in Manila posted an advisory on its website asking its citizens to stay indoors, avoid demonstrations and refrain from confrontations with locals, anticipating a "large-scale" anti-China protest on Friday.

That coincided with a stern warning from Beijing that China had made "every preparation" to counter what it called potential expansion of the conflict by the Philippines, one of Washington's closest allies in Asia.

Civil society and political groups with links to President Benigno Aquino's political allies plan to take to the streets on Friday to protest the Chinese presence in the Scarborough shoal, which Manila says is within its jurisdiction.

lots and lots of illegal chinese immigrants in the Philippines. the Chinese Govt funds them to start Businesses and they will do anything to destroy local competition. The most popular method is arson, second murder. I don't know why the Filipinos haven't just exterminated them and be done with it. China has long had it's eye on those Islands and like their northern Taiwan Neighbors China claims they BELONG to China as well as other Nations in the region but the Philippines is a Major Priority because of it's strategic location. Same reason Magellan went there using pre existing Maps into what at the time was the Major Hub for Trade between Asia, India, East Africa and other areas in the region. Magellan was arrested tried and executed in reality but western history uses a racist false narrative t make the criminal seem like a hero deserving sympathy. Imagine if some asshole came in and landed on a dock in a Major Port and tried to Claim the Land and force everyone to "convert". Jptdknpa

I know this has gone astray with Ragers message but ive lost count on how many of those SM ive pounded out at parties with family and friends.. good stuff, but for what its worth the philipino's have gotten shit on for generations and trashed for their kindness of spirit,

That being said and not knocking most chinese there good peeps too, its all the govermental hoohaa that presses the masses in a certain direction.
