Computer problem
Hello.
I'm hoping someone can give me a suggestion or two of how to fix this lil (big) problem I'm having.
Here's what happened:
I have an HP Pavilion g7 107ous Notebook Laptop. Windows 7 Home Premium. 64 Bit. It is 14 months old. Its been working great-with no problems at all.
My McAfee Antivirus expired, but I couldn't shell out $50-60 for another Antivirus right now, so I downloaded and installed Microsoft Security Essentials (straight from Microsoft).
I made absolutely SURE to download the CORRECT version for my system and windows. There are NO other, antivirus/antimalware programs in my system-I made sure of that, because I am aware that it can cause severe interference computer problems. I ran a whole system scan-and it found no infection, NO viruses or malware or anything. GREAT!!!
Buut, since installing that crap my computer is come to slowest slow crawl known in computer land. That crap even interferes with my Wifi. WTH???
So I uninstalled it--had no other choice.
It took me nearly ten minutes to get on LOP-when before this crap, it was practically instant. Even getting on Google has become a major pain in the tush. Dont know what or why, but Mozilla Firefox is acting up too--it stopped working completely!!! WTH is that? Aaaarrrggg!!!
I installed AVG-ran a scan-it came back clean!! So from the looks of things my computer is not infected by anything in anyway. Oh, BTW, AVG is acting "funny" too. Another WTH? I HAD to uninstall that too!!!
I am still without an antivirus program and the slowest crawl known to man continues!
From your experience(s) do you know a GOOD and free antivirus I can install-one that is not gonna cause problems?
Can someone PLEASE suggest something? Does any one have any idea of what could be causing this?
I'm soo mad, I'm about to scream and cry! LOL HELP!!!! Tissue
Thank you in advance for your help!
God bless

RE: Computer problem
McAfee is still in your reg so just uninstalling won't take it completely off...if you're worried about a virus go,to house call by trend micro, it runs in not on your machine. I would start looking through KB articles in the 7 64bit arena and see what's pops up.

It really is.

Although, I hear malwarebytes is pretty good for what you are looking for.

RE: Computer problem
Find a removal tool for McAfee.

That shit is worse than having a virus and harder to get rid of.

Can you please tell me how to completely remove McAfee from my reg? Also, do you know the steps I need to take, to look through KB articles.
I will check out House Call Micro Trend. Have you used Micro Trend? Any problems?
Thank you for responding to my post.

RE: Computer problem
McAfee sucks so bad they can't sell it, they need to bundle it as oem. I used to have customers that used it instead of Symantec as it wasn't as invasive then they shit the bed.

RE: Computer problem
I forgot to ask before. What do you guys think of Microsoft Security Essentials? Is it known to cause computer problems, in general?
I was told its a very very heavy program!
