Early 60's US moves nuke missiles into Turkey pointed at Russia. They in turn started to move their own into Cuba. Result the world moved very close to World War 3. Maybe the veterans on both sides who had lived through World War 2 had a bit of common sense. Maybe Guardian Angels was watching out for the world too. Now it's starting all over. And the chickenhawk leaders of the US have time and again proved they have a lot less common sense then "the greatest generation". Hope then Guardian Angels still care.

Also Turkey has now started to build their own ICBM's.

Turkey to produce ICBMs

Acting on Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s directives for the production of long-range missile with 2500km (1553 miles) range, Turkey’s Defense Industry Executive Committee has formally announced its decision to commence design and production work for an ICBM.

Putin Holds Session on Russia's Core Military Capability: the Strategic Nuclear Forces

Thursday at his summer residence in Sochi, President Vladimir Putin met with top officers and officials in charge of Russia's Strategic Nuclear Forces and Aerospace Defense Troops. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin, Minister of Industry Denis Manturov, Roscosmos head Gen. Vladimir Popovkin, and the director of the nuclear agency Rosatom, Sergei Kiriyenko, were in attendance, besides Ministry of Defense representatives. The Kremlin's announcement called it a Meeting on Implementation of the State Armaments Program for Nuclear Deterrence, a reference to the thermonuclear weapons that would be fired at the United States and its allies in the event of an attack on Russia.

Putin recently held conferences on implementing the government's Ground Forces and Air Force programs. The session on the Strategic Nuclear Forces, the latest in this series, was highlighted on today's national TV broadcasts, including Putin's statement that "nuclear arms ... remain a truly important guarantee of Russia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and play a key role in supporting global and regional equilibrium and stability."..

No actually, the FBI does start files on all military and their families who leave the country to be stationed on military bases elsewhere.

Good video.

Once the NY Times and Washington Post would have been doing that king of analysis about the Pravda claims of Russian nuclear missile again in Cuba.

But I guess it nicer for people to think about Chick-Fil-A when the great power now seem to again be playing a game of nuclear warfare chicken.
