reporter David Koch (L-ALEC), “We’ve gotten pretty good at this,” hands Gov Walker $1 million
Billionaire Industrialist David Koch promised to help support Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) who is up for a recall election and his promise just came through by way of a $1 million donation.

“We’re helping him, as we should. We’ve gotten pretty good at this over the years,” Koch said. “We’ve spent a lot of money in Wisconsin. We’re going to spend more.”

SOnline reports:

Here’s more proof of that:

Koch personally gave $1 million earlier this year to the Republican Governors Association, which is running ads statewide supporting Walker and criticizing the top two Democratic candidates – Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk.

The information on the donation is listed in federal tax records filed this week.

A spokeswoman for Koch downplayed the contribution, saying it went for the general support of the Republican group.

“All contributions made to the RGA go into our general fund and are not earmarked,” explained Mike Schrimpf, the group’s communications director.

Koch’s $1 million contribution comes on top of the cash that he and his brother, Charles, have given to Americans for Prosperity, a conservative advocacy group founded by the pair that aired a series of ads earlier this year supporting Walker’s budget proposals.

The political action committee for Koch Industries – an energy and consumer products conglomerate based in Wichita, Kan. – also contributed $43,000 to Walker’s campaign in 2010.

The Koch brothers are also linked to a $3.6 million ad campaign slamming President Barack Obama on gasoline prices. Fox News, in concert with the wealthy siblings continuously blamed the Obama Administration for rising gas prices — a claim that has been repeatedly debunked by energy analysts.

When President Obama took office, that’s when the attacks from the Kochs began and hiding from the spotlight was no longer an option. The billionaire siblings hijacked the Tea Party – rather were tied to groups that did, then began their all out assault.

Politico reports, “In all, the brothers’ network is aiming to steer significantly more than $200 million to conservative groups for political advertising and organizing ahead of Election Day.”

Think Progress reports:

As it turns out, Koch Industries, the petrochemical conglomerate owned by David and Charles Koch, has dumped benzene into streams.

In 2000, the Department of Justice served the company with an indictment for allowing “at least 91 metric tons of uncontrolled benzene in its liquid waste streams” during a period in 1995 at its Corpus Christi refinery. Prosecutors alleged that the company was well aware of its pollution, and that Koch’s employees conspired to deceive regulators.

If this was about ACORN and not about ALEC you would see lots of replies. ACORN is about wingtards on the left. ALEC is about wingtards on the right. And since this is essentially a Right Wing forum, you will see little outrage. ALEC is corruption that outstrips the ACORN corruption in every way to a much greater disgusting extent. But to attack ALEC is to attack the righties. Since there are no lefties on this forum, I doubt you will see much interest. The righties could care less how f*cked up and "unamerican" ALEC is....their guys are doing it, so there must be something good about it.
And even if they saw it is bad, they won't say it is, because maintaining some BS ideology is foremost in their minds.....even though the ideology is just a trick the elites use on them to keep the people from catching on to their control.

Any sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from evil.

ALEC Hit With IRS Complaint Filed By Common Cause

Open government advocates accused a conservative legislative group Monday of falsely claiming tax-exempt status while doing widespread lobbying.

Advocacy group Common Cause said Monday it had filed an IRS complaint accusing ALEC of masquerading as a public charity. ALEC is formed as a nonprofit that brings together lawmakers and private sector organizations to develop legislation and policy.

ALEC says its work is not lobbying.

Common Cause disagrees. "It tells the IRS in its tax returns that it does no lobbying, yet it exists to pass profit-driven legislation in statehouses all over the country that benefits its corporate members," said Bob Edgar, president of Common Cause, in a statement. "ALEC is not entitled to abuse its charitable tax status to lobby for private corporate interests, and stick the bill to the American taxpayer."

Common Cause wants an IRS audit of ALEC's work, penalties and the payment of back taxes.

Meet Scott Walker's Billionaires

With the campaign to recall Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker in full thrust even as he is investigated for corruption, I thought you all might like to meet his billionaires. He has several.

For instance, David Koch donated $1,000,000 to the Republican Governor's Association on February 1, 2012, which coincidentally was the same day Governor Walker signed a bill into law expanding the "open enrollment" period for public schools which is all part of the effort to turn Wisconsin public schools into a "free market." The Koch-funded MacIver Institute crowed all over the lovely "free education market," thanks to Scott Walker. Also on that day, Democrats revealed three candidates running against Wisconsin state senators up for recall. While it's unclear that the million donated was for Scott Walker, I note that Scott Walker is the only guy in need of the billionaire backing at this particular moment in time.

Scott Walker's out-of-state support has been remarkable. Out of the $4.5 million he raised in the first quarter of 2012, nearly $4 million came from out-of-state donors in the five-week period before the limits on donations for the recall kicked in, and most donors were boys sitting at the Billionaire Boys' Club table. Here are a few notable out-of-state names, industries and donation amounts:

Stanley Herzog, MO (Construction) $250,000
Robert Perry, TX (Construction) $250,000
Sarah Atkins, MO (Building Products) $250,000
David C Humphreys, MO (Building Products) $250,000
Trevor Rees-Jones, TX (Big Oil) $100,000
Bruce Covner, NY (Hedge Funds) $100,000
John M Templeton, Jr, PA (Investments) $30,000

Wealthy Wisconsinites ponied up, too. Here are a few:

Mary Sue Shannon, $100,000. Mrs Shannon is married to Michael Shannon, managing director of KSL Capital Partners, LLC

, a Denver investment company
Robert Kerbell, $50,000. Mr. Kerbell is the CEO of Lorman Education Services, a company that provides online continuing education seminars.
Ostrom, Vostors and Willer are all affiliated with or own Milksource, LLC. They donated a combined $91,000 to the effort.
