Dissolving incentives for offshoring jobs
neither of the candidates went far enough addressing this issue. at least Obama is working to close some tax incentive loopholes but that's not going far enough, imho. i've been hoping to hear someone suggest providing a tax tariff on goods manufactured by corporations that have once used american labor and have offshored that labor. they should pay a tariff on the goods and services that they sell back to american consumers.

RE: Dissolving incentives for offshoring jobs
and Romney can say he never saw these incentives as a businessman but let's face it, if it wasn't profitable, it wouldn't happen. i have nothing against profit but its unethical and definitely has been one of the greatest factors in the last 10 years especially, in weakening america as a whole.

sure, if you throw your old parents in a homeless shelter, you may save and therefore profit from it but its immoral and unethical and a stab in the back.

same principals, just an analogy.

Yeah, they always conveniently skip over that, like a couple ballerinas.

yes, and its crystal clear Romney doesn't want to even acknowledge the issue in any way, which is a red flag. at least Obama is willing to utter the words.

I agree, but how do you put a tariff on things like outsourced call and support centers... This is a huge issue ! Big business is working like mad to off shore support centers .. You pick up the phone for support, when was the last time you got ahold of someone you could understand ?

Who needs Washington? Just boycott the corporations (like General Motors) that sold us out. That's what I'm doing.

its simple. you calculate the proportional gain and place a percentage tax upon it. even if it doesn't STOP the practice, it at least is another source of deserved tax revenue to help support the damage caused by the practice. its not difficult to define the parameters of the tax.

RE: Dissolving incentives for offshoring jobs
example: xyz company paid X dollars to call center employees during the year(s) they had those jobs done in america. xyz company now pays 17 million dollars less over the same time frame. xyz is taxed 4% higher american taxes per year on profits because they are an american company, paying taxes for offshoring that work.

they may still realize a significant savings but at least it creates more tax revenue for america. it doesn't need to be unfair or unrealistic to make a difference as long as loopholes are concurrently closed and sealed.
