Do The Majority of Americans Want Guns?
As a non-american (thank god), i just cannot understand the logical and rationality behind the argument over the Batman shooting. "Oh if we all had guns the guy wouldnt have been able to shoot so many people" That is NOT getting to the root of the issue?
Where is the logic? Lets arm ourselves to the teets in case something like that happens? Let millions of average joes walk around with arms? Wasnt he just an 'average' joe at one point?
How is this a rational thought?!@! I DON'T GET IT! Look at the rest of the world - issues like this are rare - why? Because gun laws are more strict.
It is like saying "I wouldnt have been raped as much if there were more girls with me to rape" (I apologize if that offends..it's not meant to and rape is not funny).

To me..it just seems like such a ridiculous argument against the violence. More potential violence to prevent violence - am I the only one who thinks this?

The rest of the world does have gun violence and in places where it's very difficult to obtain a gun they have other violence. Try again and try harder this time.

Is it that you don't like the government of the United States? Or is it that you just don't like the residents here?

I realize the rest of the world has gun violence - but clearly not to the extent of the U.S. Everyone knows this. And I am not attacking individuals here, I am attacking this thought floating around - more so by republican type folks - that arming people with guns is going to prevent gun violence. Is there not an inherent contradiction here?

I think it's unfair a little girl could shoot Bruce Lee dead.

Doesn't mean I don't have a nasty looking machete for you if you attack me in my home.

Wouldn't you rather be shot dead?

Negative, I have lots of american friends. I live in Canada, and though we are no different in lots of respects - we don't have that crazy police state that is emerging there. Oh and the world doesn't hate us as much, which makes me feel slightly safer

So you're attacking the idea of being able to defend oneself?

Do you want your friends and neighbors to be armed or do you want these people stomping their jack boots on your face till the end of your life?

RE: Do The Majority of Americans Want Guns?
The issue is not about more or less guns, it is about freedom, The olympics are putting it in the mainstream now, on selected channels. I shoot alot, hunt alot, with a gun since 10 yrs old. Never think about killing an innocent.

Yes, we ar accurate, will not miss the intended target. It is the way I grew up!! 1" circle at 300 yds, able to deer hunt to kill efficiently. Too bad getting older and couldn't make that shot anymore.

But awesome with 1911

horn RE: Do The Majority of Americans Want Guns?
Your missing the point.

The fact is the law says we have the right to own guns.

The law is there to protect us from a taken over by another government, or as Abraham Lincoln said from within (the government being taken over from within, you know, like the drug cartel taking over the majority of elected position and establishing the police or military to insure they control the drug traffic).

Most countries which control guns couldn't care less about the population at large. They just don't want a revelotion so the same people can stay in power.

The law is the law, and until we are taken over, we will have the right to have firearms.

If you were going to break into someones house in the middle of the night would you

A. break into a house that is well armed and risk death
B. break into a house that is not armed and risk nothing.

Well which would you decide if you were a criminal?

I realize patriotism runs deeper in the U.S then it does in other countries - but this isn't a discussion about that, so calm down. Gun violence, and allowing people to more easily carry guns with them is like putting a band aid over a band aid over a band aid - it does not attempt to solve the underlying issue..which is a complex one of course.

RE: Do The Majority of Americans Want Guns?
In an answer to your question, no, most of us do not own or want to own a gun. However, you will find the majority of gun owners are very voiciferous. Its like their big trucks too. I do not understand it either but I believe they should have the right to own all that makes them happy.
Personally, I often chalk it up to penis size and IQ, I could be wrong though. LOL!Hugs
