We strongly suggest you do not watch this awful movie. We made the mistake of doing so last night.

Worst movie with the most depressing feeling after.

It’s about a super rich family (mansion with own private 18 hole golf course and lake and horses) who are unbelievably nuts, dysfunctional and awful to each other. A planet called “Melancholia” comes in and smashes into the earth and kills everyone.
The whole movie is filmed on the estate.

The only thing that allowed me to disconnect from this travesty was the realization of what it is – a temper tantrum on behalf of the makers of the movie – they know it’s coming and can’t do anything about it.

So they are having a tantrum and saying things like “earth is evil” and “I hate marriage” etc. etc. to try and make themselves feel better about the coming doom. Hey, they even mention the "doomsayers" on the movie.

I got drunk as shit and watched this and loved it. I also think Lars von Trier (the director) is as Illuminati as the day is long, and the atheistic agenda was pretty strong in the script.

Reading the one star reviews on amazong this one stands out:

Being around depressed people is truly depressing - choosing to watch them for entertainment value is insane and not in the least entertaining or rewarding. Do you really want to spend over 2 hours watching someone be depressed?

(Actually, she wasn't just depressed. She was insane).

I watched it two nights ago.

OMG, it sucked. I kept wondering "Why did they make this? Who wrote this?"

I can only guess that it was some kind of tax write-off scheme for the diretor's vacation in Sweden.

I didnt think it was bad, I drifted in and out of sleep though a few times. There are at least two things worth seeing in this movie....
