A menacing animal is terrorizing residents of an upscale waterfront community just outside New Orleans. But it's not your run-of-the-mill beastly wild animal. Instead, it's a sweet-faced bottle-nosed dolphin and hospital officials say he's already taken a bite out of three people who have entered the waters of Lake Pontchartrain in Slidell, La.
Second in size to the great Salt Lake in Utah, Lake Pontchartrain is home to many wild animals. The Slidell Dolphin, as the juvenile male is known, made the body of water his home just after Katrina when a small pod made their way into the lake. The pod eventually left--leaving the lone dolphin to fend for himself.

Dolphins, being cetaceans, are probably smarter than we are. I would imagine that the animal is trying to tell humans that are there to GTFO of the water. It's probably polluted as hell anyway...with BP and the like. This is the first time I can say that I have heard of a "dolphin on human crime" (LOL)
Remember that these are the same creatures that are reported as saving human lives all over the world. Be it from sharks, drownings etc...there are always positive reports. I would imagine that there is more to this story.

Edit: humans being the idiots that they are, have been terrorizing the dolphin with jet skis and the like.
So, of course, humans will put this dolphin down for protecting itself.

Also, one dolphin species of males hold female dolphins hostage, so that she cannot breed with other males.

Not putting dolphins down, just saying they're not perfect.

Dolphins are animals. Intelligent animals no doubt but still animals.
I always giggle when people think that Dolphins love humans and tell stories how dolphins save people from drowning and push them back to shore.

Those are just the humans that were pushed back to shore, you never hear about the ones they push out to open water and drown.
