My name begins with a Mc, I can quote Robert Burns, and I have indeed ingested haggis, does that qualify?

That is pretty close, just a question, Robbie Burns and his Brother Arthur Burns resided in which colonial country and what was their connection to the Union Steamship company?

RE: Duck?
Robert Burns lived in Alloway,Ayrshire I believe. Robbie I know not. Arthur Burns having worked for the Fed, hence is now dead

I myself have navigated to Dunedin, didn't care for the natives. Slept instead in Akaroa downwind from Christchurch. Lands End to be sure.....

Akaroa is a wee way from Dunedin, it was where the french landed in NZ, another 24 hours earlier and it would have been french colony.

Dunedin is a little cold a bit Edinburgh , CHCH isn't much better, a bit Cambridge, the other side of the south Island is more friendly.

I don't know what this duck business is about exactly, I suspect it is pull the piss out of certain people I see at another site the Duck card being played a bit.

NZ is a yachting paradise if you know the right places and weather.
One of my friends used to sail brand new vessels from Australia where they had been manufactured to the clients ports in NZ, he used to take a friend or two and make a holiday of it for them.

Sometimes he would sail peoples yacht's back from Fiji or the Islands to Auckland for them [and cash of course] some people were great at pretending to be yachtsmen but freaked out after a decent trip, some were very rich and just didn't have time in their busy lives to sail in both directions, very nice yachts they had just about sailed themselves he said.

Yes it is a considerable distance, never said I made it in a night. And yes Akaroa is up island depending on how you look at it. But the point I was making was in relation to the ?, and Dunedin is the base of the shipping co of which you inquired.

I added the bit about Akaroa because of it's proximity to
Christchurch, which in itself holds deeper meanings. And it is where pieces of me reside at "Lands End."

Alas it seems Duck shall remain cloaked in mystery...........
