Also, modern buddhism is not the same as the real Esoteric Zen school of buddhism.

Modern Buddhism is all about self neglect in hopes of 'enlightenment'.

This does not reflect the teachings of the old school esoteric zen buddhism.

The taoist school Wuliu pai recognizes that modern buddhism is devoid of Yang cultivation, and completely neglects it, in favor of yin. This leads to death and going back into the lower planes to turn one into a GHOST.

Just think of when Damo visited the Shaolin temple and saw that monks were meditating looking frail and lifeless.

They were merely collecting dust!

True, the self may be beyond what you may perceive but this does not mean "annihilate the ego" which is merely a coined phrase.

I agree. I prefer the doctrines of holistic integration of all parts of the mind. Attempting to removes or annihilate any part of the mind especially attempts utilizing self hypnosis under the guise of meditation I find very very suspect.

First, we need to recognize our ego.
Then, we need to get to know it.
Then, we learn to recognize when it causes problems.
Then, we learn to control it.
Then, we ignore it and let it pout in the background.

If your Ego controls you then the last thing it would ever want is for you to entertain for one second the idea of removing it.

I have suffered from blackest depression in my early life. I talked and reasoned my way out of that with no use of drugs or medication.
If I had no Ego I would have never been depressed.
