Samaras agrees to longer-term unity government, only if Papandreou resigns and new PM doesn't come from Pasok.

RE: Countdown to Greek Vote of Confidence
Let me tell you how the vote turns out right now in case there is ANY doubt in your mind... Just like the LAST THREE Votes of Confidence, they will get a thumbs up and move on... The people of Greece do the same thing EVERY time, riot burn a few cars, and show off riot dog every now and then...

This is not news, its just another run at the local theater.. I generally don't like even paying for popcorn to watch a political film where I already know the ending.. Even if they get a no vote, they take a second and third until they get the vote they want...

It's a joke...

You're probably right..I no vote would be a bigger story than the referendum fiasco.

Dont discount it though..they seem to be doing a good job of f****** this up too.

Papandreou just got into parliament for the confidence vote and his address to the parliament as people and riot police gather outside.

He is due to speak before the vote begins.

the story isn't the G Parliment or the cabinet or the interum government or the referendum.

The story is that the EU is in a terminal debt spiral and they do not have the collective capital to fix it. And now they are teetering toward default.

BBC News, Dublin
Meanwhile in Ireland - the government has warned there are four more years of cuts to come. Measures to save 12.4 billion euros (£10.7bn; $17.1bn) will need to be implemented to bring the country's deficit down to a target of 3% by 2015, as stipulated in the bailout agreement, Finance Minister Michael Noonan announced.

RE: Countdown to Greek Vote of Confidence
2115: Mr Papandreou says what an achievement it was to secure the bailout agreement last week - "an agreement that gives us security and safety, which guarantees our stake in Europe... An agreement that allows us to delete a large part of our loans, and pay very little interest on these payments. It makes our route a lot easier for the next years," he says. This agreement must not be lost - "it is a national priority", he says.

2117: Political parties must co-operate to "protect the people", PM Papandreou says.
