Facebook agrees to run marijuana legalization ads

"Facebook has agreed to run marijuana legalization ads after being confronted by the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the ACLU of Northern California.

The social networking giant had refused to run the ads of multiple organizations because they showed marijuana leaves.

“Platforms like Facebook that are designed to facilitate communication should not get into the business of censorship, which is the opposite of innovating, connecting, and sharing,” Linda Lye of the ACLU said on Monday. “The good news is that once alerted to the problem by the ACLU and EFF, Facebook immediately did the right thing.”

The publisher of “Marijuana is Safer: So Why Are We Driving People to Drink?” hoped to use a Facebook ad to promote a special price being offered to celebrate the book’s success, but their proposed ad was denied last year. In a message sent to the publisher, Facebook said that the “content advertised by this ad is prohibited” because the popular website does “not allow ads for marijuana and any products related to it.”"

The reasons weed is illegal is because keeping it illegal works for the criminal government on many, many levels. It will never be returned to the status of a common weed, herb, and agricultural crop as long as the criminals remain in power.

Thinking otherwise is like believing the AMA will start supporting alternative cancer treatments they can't make money off of and control. Isn't going to happen.

Monsanto and it's offshoot ilk would GMO the weed if legalized...they've already done it. They've turned it into a poison that a) doesn't produce seeds b) they can limit the THC level to 5% genetically so you have to smoke more to get desired effect, thus making you smoke more of the GMO poison weed, while tasting and smelling ok to the user. They would use it as a trap if legalized. Weed is safer left illegal, as sadly you can trust a street drug dealer more than the big pharma and fed killing machine, which is sad fact. Weed in the hands the the guys making these poison trap vaccines and lipitor garbage = NOT GOOD.

RE: Facebook agrees to run marijuana legalization ads
Law Enforcement Against Prohibition\\

'We believe that drug prohibition is the true cause of much of the social and personal damage that has historically been attributed to drug use. It is prohibition that makes these drugs so valuable – while giving criminals a monopoly over their supply. Driven by the huge profits from this monopoly, criminal gangs bribe and kill each other, law enforcers, and children. Their trade is unregulated and they are, therefore, beyond our control.

History has shown that drug prohibition reduces neither use nor abuse. After a rapist is arrested, there are fewer rapes. After a drug dealer is arrested, however, neither the supply nor the demand for drugs is seriously changed. The arrest merely creates a job opening for an endless stream of drug entrepreneurs who will take huge risks for the sake of the enormous profits created by prohibition. Prohibition costs taxpayers tens of billions of dollars every year, yet 40 years and some 40 million arrests later, drugs are cheaper, more potent and far more widely used than at the beginning of this futile crusade.

We believe that by eliminating prohibition of all drugs for adults and establishing appropriate regulation and standards for distribution and use, law enforcement could focus more on crimes of violence, such as rape, aggravated assault, child abuse and murder, making our communities much safer. We believe that sending parents to prison for non-violent personal drug use destroys families. We believe that in a regulated and controlled environment, drugs will be safer for adult use and less accessible to our children. And we believe that by placing drug abuse in the hands of medical professionals instead of the criminal justice system, we will reduce rates of addiction and overdose deaths."

That may be true, but the market is heavily saturated with organic and premium thoroughbred marijuana distribution so for the same reason you can buy organic cabbage, you will be able to continue to buy good weed. If people demand a name brand and no one else can produce it what the f*ck is Monsanto gonna do about it? Make garbage people don't want cheaper?
