Family Reunions
Anybody else have these once per year gatherings? I'm heading out to one shortly. Always good food, fun and games, and catching up.

This year there's a promise of someone going home with a special prize! Cheer

RE: Family Reunions
We do...everyone flies into our town, and my husband and I do most of the work feeding everyone for the BBQ, and gathering at our home to hang out on the deck...but hey!!

it's the only feasible way and we're happy to do it.

so how does your family do reunions...?

RE: Family Reunions
Well my Dad has 13 brothers and sisters, so every year someone else holds it. Everyone is pretty local. This year it's here in town.

We all bring our own (whatever we're bbqing) and then something extra for the crowd like a salad, or dessert. And we all byob.

RE: Family Reunions
I'm invited to way to many of them. My family hates me but their brainwashing requires them to invite me. I hate spending time with any of them. If I could I would press a button and they would all be gone.

My mom always insisted on being the first to arrive and the last to leave. That way, she said, no one could gossip about you. chuckle

13 brothers and sisters, wow...can't even imagine how many people that would include with other family members...Scream1

There are four of us sibs, so our group is only around 24 with grandparents...so we've started renting out gazebo/shelters at parks to eat the big meal there, then clean up there, and wagon train it our house to have dessert and hang out.

well, its always in another city.. O and i have no vehicle so it means buses and all that..
and we are the only 2 who smoke and like to have a few beers so..
we always feel out of place.
no point.
they all know each other real well by now.. all the nieces n nephews n that..
we dont have a clue really what they are doing or anything.
and they have no idea who we are much either..
so we dont bother.

Just Plain Nuts.

chuckle It can end up to quite a few when you get cousins and nieces and nephews and grandkids and great-grandkids!

We played the name draw game again this year where when your name is drawn you choose a prize from the pile. The trick being that if someone else chose something before you and you want it, you steal it from them! Lmao I stole one of my dad's prizes and one of his gf's. But then she stole it back when her name was drawn again. Dammit.

Also the balloon baby game. You have to carry around a water balloon and take care of it. And at any point, anyone can take that baby and break it it you let your guard down. There's a "safe" basket for when you have to use the washroom or something though. chuckle

When I went up to get my prize when my name was drawn, my Dad busted my baby for taking his prize.
