Vigilantes need to start dealing with the thousands of sex offenders currently squatting in our towns and cities everywhere. It wouldn't take too many incidents before police started locking them up for their own safety.

The father did right. Even with justice, laws and a supposedly working legal system, some things you simply must do yourself for honor, for love, for family.

I believe this wholeheartedly and will not serve on juries for this reason and these two others:

1. I will never find someone guilty of a minor drug charge. i.e. posession of 5 lbs. weed for sale to your peeps is what I consider minor.

2. Anything a homeowner or victim does to a burglar or attacker is permissible.

If a burglar or assailant steps into your home and hurts a family member you may:

contact police;

punish them yourself;

kill them;

just keep them around a while so they may reflect on the grievous error of their ways--where you put them was called an oubliette when they were still in wide acceptance!

I may be a kind and fun person on this board and in real life--I really am, but if a family member is attacked, the sheer dark rage I could summon into myself would leave that attacker weeping, crying and praying for the release of death long before I have finished with them. It is simply how it is.

I hope the Dad has no regrets for his actions later on.

He did the right thing and not only protected his own, but probably prevented a great deal more offenses. Offenses of a nature so heinous that they literally break the emotional, psychological, and physical well-being of the people who are offended on for their entire lives.

I know this is going to sound weird, but since I was a kid, and even TODAY, I dream of taking on a secret identity and taking out my own form of personal justice on people. I know vigilantism is illegal, and the likelyhood of someone getting away for too long with being a "super hero". The schematics behind it, with enough money, doesn't seem too far fetched. Makes me kind of sit back and think for a minute. Jhikpghf
