My Favorite Shoes

This is a true story. I had bought a pair of Nike hiking boots back in the 1980's. They were the perfect color, shape and so very comfortable. They went with me on every hike, camping trip and adventure. My shoes and I went hiking the Fingerlakes Trail on a backpacking trip, Arizona, and climbed the rocks of Sedona. We took a week long canoe trip down the Green River, hiked Big Bend in Texas.
By the year 2000, I had to Goop Glue the soles back on and the bottoms were so worn smooth that I had to carve in extra tread. I still wore them.
In the year 2009, I had bought desert land in West Texas with a big hill on it. I knew my boots were on their last legs, so to speak. You just can't toss out such an old friend in the trash, so I made a memorial shoe shrine for them on top of that hill. This is their final resting place.

I played them out, with the sunset with my flute.

Since then, my sister had a special hiking pair that bit the dust, and she made her shoes a shrine, and the following year, we laid my daughter's shoes out to rest.
The road that my land is on is now named "Boot Hill Road".

Very cool.

I believe shoes are an extension of our soul.

Hugs

A one star vote from a barefoot LOP er.

Awesome!

So, no one wears shoeschuckle

I didn't one star you, but I prefer bare foot whenever possible. If not possible then sandals. If that's not possible then it's runners. And that's even in the winter.

I don't believe in boots. Too constricting. Anon

I know you didn't one star this.. Hugs

I don't understand sandalsS977 they seem to slip off to easily.
I have sensitive feet, so I can't go barefoot... I am always in awe watching people run around barefoot.

I love moccasin's Heartflowers

RE: Favorite shoe?
btw posters for high quality shoes and clothes at discounted prices, check out 6pm.com. They are the discount division of Zappos. A terrific company to work with too. I've bought tons of things there without a problem.
