I don't believe this is accurate and that's where it falls apart. Go back through the news headlines of the last 4-5 decades. Same shit, different year.

The fact is more people get their news online and increasingly from independent sources than from the nightly news or newspapers. Why do you think the big push to censor the internet is happening and with such urgency?
