LONDON - Prime Minister Stephen Harper is offering his congratulations to the police for catching Canadian fugitive Luka Rocco Magnotta in Berlin.
Harper, in London for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, says he is pleased Magnotta has been arrested.
"Well, I'm obviously pleased that the suspect has been arrested, and I just want to congratulate the police forces on their good work," Harper said.
Magnotta is facing five charges, including first-degree murder, in the slaying and dismemberment of Jun Lin, 33, a Chinese national who was studying at Montreal's Concordia University.

The alleged porn-star-turned-killer dubbed the "Canadian Psycho" has been arrested in Berlin.
Berlin police said yesterday they had arrested the internationally wanted murder suspect, a former gay porn star accused of chopping up his lover and filming the attack.
Luka Rocco Magnotta offered little resistance, saying simply: "You got me," a police spokesman said.
"I can confirm that the person arrested was the wanted Magnotta," the spokesman said, adding that authorities picked up the 29-year-old in an Internet cafe in Neukoelln, a working-class district of Berlin.
"At 1:30 pm, a witness stopped a police car in the Karl Marx Strasse and said that he had recognised a criminal in an Internet cafe. ... Officers then went directly to the cafe," the spokesman said.
They had little difficulty overpowering and arresting the suspect, he said. "It went very quickly."

Luka Magnotta , is a retired male model and former bisexual porn star. He is of Russian / Italian decent born in Canada.
Luka Magnotta is also known for dating female serial killer Karla Homolka who murdered three girls with her husband Paul Bernardo, yet he denies these allegations.
Magnotta was accused in 2010 of severe animal cruelty, killing and torturing many animals in sick sadistic ways.
First he allegedly took two baby kittens on Christmas eve, put them in a vacuum bag and sucked all the air out, playing Christmas music while his friends filmed. It is believed he sells these films on the black market for big bucks.
Then he took another cat, taped it to a poll and drowned it in a bath tub. If that is not bad enough he had sex with their dead bodies. In 2011 he took another cat and fed it to his 16ft long Albino Python. He has outraged animal lovers the world over. Here is a list of news articles on his many crimes.

BERLIN — Luka Rocco Magnotta could be back in Canada within a few weeks after indicating to a German judge Tuesday that he will not fight his extradition, as he faces five charges, including murder, in the decapitation and dismemberment of an old boyfriend who had reportedly spurned him.
"I have no precise information about the direction this case will take and can say nothing definitely, but in my opinion his extradition will probably not be a long experience," Martin Steltner, a lawyer who is chief spokesman for the state prosecutor's office, told Postmedia News.
"My personal prognosis is that this process will take a couple of weeks, but nobody knows exactly when this may happen."
After spending the night in a Berlin jail cell following his arrest Monday at an Internet cafe, the 29-year-old Magnotta made a brief appearance before a judge inside a police lockup Tuesday.

Montreal police confirmed today that they are investigating Best Gore, the website that first hosted and refused to take down the video which is believed to show Luka Rocco Magnotta murdering and dismembering of Jun Lin, a Chinese undergraduate student in Montreal.
“We are most likely going to press charges against him [the website operator], but I have no idea what these charges are going to be or how it’s going to take place for now,” a spokeswoman for the Montreal police told the National Post.

Canadian brewing company Labatt wants people to drink their beer — just not suspected body-parts killer and porn star Luka Rocco Magnotta.
The company threatened the Montreal Gazette (a Postmedia publication, as is The Vancouver Sun) with a lawsuit after the publication posted a Facebook photo of the accused killer sipping a bottle of the brew on its website.
“I would be surprised if Labatt pursues this further, but if they do, the Gazette will defend itself,” Mark Bantey of Gowling, Lafleur, Henderson acting lawyer for the paper told the Toronto Star.
Twenty-nine-year-old Magnotta, who was arrested at an Internet café in Berlin on Monday, was wanted worldwide in connection with the murder and dismemberment of 33-year-old Chinese Concordia Univerty student Jun Lin.

MONTREAL — Police in the Quebec town of Gatineau will examine evidence gathered against Luka Rocco Magnotta for a possible connection to a grisly 2011 murder that has since stumped detectives.
Magnotta was arrested in Germany on Monday in connection with the death and dismemberment of a university student in Montreal.
A spokesperson for the Gatineau force said it would contact Montreal police shortly to see whether any link exists between Magnotta and the killing of Valerie Leblanc.
Sgt. Jean-Paul Lemay stressed it was routine procedure for police to look for connections given the distinct nature of both crimes.

TORONTO - Labatt Brewing Company says they've dropped a request of the Montreal Gazette to remove a picture from its website of Luka Rocco Magnotta posing with their beer.
The brewer had sent a letter to the paper asking it to take down a photo posted with a story from Magnotta's Facebook page showing him holding a bottle of Labatt Blue.
Marketing experts say media coverage about Labatt's complaints that the picture was hurting their brand only served to draw attention to a very tenuous connection between Magnotta and their beer.

Vancouver police and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating after packages containing what appear to be human remains were sent to two schools Tuesday afternoon.
Police are expected to release more information at a news conference scheduled for 4:15 p.m. PT.
Vancouver School Board deputy superintendent Jordan Tinney told CBC News that police were called to False Creek Elementary School at about 2 p.m. PT.
