MONTREAL — Detectives investigating the Luka Magnotta case are analyzing a longer, unedited video clip that they believe shows Chinese student Jun lin, 33, being murdered and dismembered, QMI Agency has learned.
The video lasts about fifteen minutes, compared with 10 minutes, 45 seconds for the edited clip that was posted to a gore website.

Luka Rocco Magnotta on military plane bound for Canada to face murder charge

Canadian authorities took Luka Rocco Magnotta into their custody in Berlin Monday and he is currently on a military plane en route to Canada where he will face numerous charges, including first-degree murder.
“On Monday June 18th, Luka Rocco Magnotta was removed from Berlin by a Canadian military transport in the custody of the (Montreal police,)” Public Safety Minister Vic Toews and Justice Minister Rob Nicholson said in a joint statement.
“Our government worked closely with the (Montreal police), the Quebec Prosecution Service and German officials in order to obtain Mr. Magnotta’s extradition from Germany and timely removal to Canada.”
Magnotta, charged with the first-degree murder in the dismemberment killing of Concordia student Jun Lin, was arrested in Berlin on June 4 following an international manhunt.

Do not watch the necrophilia video made by alleged killer Luka Magnotta. Even the site that posted it, bestgore.com, warns viewers not to become viewers. “Here’s a cliff. I strongly advise you not to jump over it,” is essentially the message, and this warning may save the site owner from prosecution.
Here’s the cliff. We have taboos about sex, eating and death — all the important bodily stuff — but the element of snuff videos that upsets us most is their view of humans as meat. There has been a pack of such worse-than-murder attacks recently.
It’s news but it’s not new as such. One of the worst elements of the Robert Pickton murder trial was the suggestion that the pig farmer had used his victims as animal feed.
Nothing is as upsetting as the notion of our mere protein-ness. It’s why we want every part of the bodies of our loved ones treated with respect, why we admire healing surgeons, why we are fine with cremation but treasure ashes. “Is not the life more than meat,” reads Matthew 6:28 in the Bible, a human cry across the ages.
If you watched that video, you did so of your own accord. Any subsequent sight of photos of the victim, Jun Lin, radiating kindness and humour, will make you feel appropriately awful. This may not be the most glorious defence of free speech on offer, but it’s all I’ve got. You will pay a moral price. Good.
But the 29-year-old Montreal teacher who showed it to his demanding and curious high-school students made a mistake based on uncertainty. I’m sorry he was fired. People who make mistakes can be the most valuable employees. The terrified apologetic teacher endured public rage and loathing. You can’t buy that kind of training in teachers’ college.
I watched the body-parts video for the same reason I watched the video of a Briton named Kenneth Bigley being beheaded by Islamist militants in 2004, for the same reason I won’t write about books I haven’t read. Observation is the lowest hurdle that commentators have to jump but jump it they must.

MONTREAL -- The military transport plane carrying alleged body-parts killer Luka Rocco Magnotta landed at Montreal-Mirabel International Airport just before 7 p.m. Monday.
Magnotta was escorted from the plane with his hands cuffed in front of him and loaded into a burgundy minivan with tinted windows.
He is in the custody of Montreal police, assisted by RCMP officers, and headed for Montreal, where he is expected to stand trial.
A convoy of several unmarked vehicles waited on the tarmac as the Airbus jet taxied to a hangar after arriving from Germany, where Magnotta has been held since he fled to Europe last month.
Magnotta was to be transported to a Montreal police booking centre where he will be transferred into protective custody pending arraignment on Tuesday.
"Federal prosecutors handled the extradition," Crown spokesman Jean Pascal Boucher said. "But when the arrest warrant is executed, as soon as he sets foot on Canadian soil, he will be arraigned within 24 hours according to the Criminal Code."

MONTREAL - The lawyer for alleged body-parts killer Luka Magnotta plans to ask for a psychiatric evaluation Tuesday for his infamous client in the gruesome dismemberment and murder of Jun Lin.
Magnotta, 29, also pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges including first-degree murder, indignity to a corpse and criminal harassment of Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Lin's torso was found outside Magnotta's Montreal apartment late last month.
Lin's hand and foot were mailed to political parties in Ottawa and two other appendages were sent to two Vancouver schools. But one part is still missing.

Luka Rocco Magnotta has been transferred to an east-end Montreal jail where he has been placed into solitary confinement and is under a 24-hour suicide watch while awaiting his next court appearance.
Magnotta is currently under “super protection,” which means he has no contact with any of the other prisoners. Beyond that, he’ll receive no special treatment while in the jail.
“It’s horrible, the crime he did, but we do our work and we’re not afraid of him,” said Stephane Lemaire, head of the provincial jail guards’ union.

Montreal police found what may be a human head Sunday afternoon at a public park.
Investigators probing the Luka Rocco Magnotta dismemberment case had information that led them to Angrignon Park shortly after noon. The park was closed after a suspicious object was found near the park’s pond.
Montreal police spokesperson Anie Lemieux said, “we must wait for results of analysis that will be done over the next few days” or even a week. She said the object was sent to a coroner, but that it was too early to confirm if it was a human body part.

His alleged acts were reported on for months with gory details spotlighted. The story read like a fictional crime story, proving that truth can be stranger than fiction. The fact that Magnotta is likely to be happy that his name is once again topping the headlines is worrisome. There is no doubt that the Magnotta story was big news but is it ethically correct to name an alleged criminal with the title of newsmaker of the year?
In newsrooms the motto is 'if it bleeds, it leads'. The more depraved a story is the more 'hits' it will get from readers. Social media has amped those hits. Magnotta's flight from justice was widely documented with a global audience looking for the man who mailed body parts to Canada's Prime Minister. It was big news and big news sells.
In the past newsmakers were people who were honourable, who made contributions to society. In the year that was predicted to be the end of the year perhaps it is fitting that the biggest newsmaker of the year in Canada was also one of the most despicable
