If I had a daughter, and this happened, I'd be a total hypocrite, I'd want them locked up, but not killed. But at first, I'd want them killed. I admit that, but that is what we have friends and supportive people for, to hold us back and keep us from de-evolving back into thoughtless, heartless, hypocritical animals. One can only hope that support system is strong when stuff like this happens.

Ya, its complicated. But you have to admit, the criminal justice system is exactly what the name implies, only criminals are getting any justice.

Is it no wonder why the anger is seeping up through the fabric of the society that we want to have? A real society, the ideal of one that is, is still a work in progress.

So how do we accomplish this?, the current "catch and release" punishments are not helping.

Self defense requires that you protect yourself from rapists and other criminals. If the system no longer works there is no stopping the eventual result.

As far as evil people using stories to ferment violence, well that is what civilized thinkers need to discern for themselves.

I really did genuinely think it was interesting to say the criminals are the only ones getting any justice, and I even agreed with that idea, and I liked the play on words. Blurting out reactions like you did can be dangerous, since I'm totally with you on what you said and even liked it, but your own imagination and perception of how I said it (it was all in your mind) led you to say something rude and silly and potentially lose a friend over it!

It is absolutely gross, and even a bit homosexual too, but it is an idea promoted in the porn industry CONSTANTLY with a huge market for it apparently and tons of videos about things like this (the girls are not 11 in that case though), so it is a very prevalent concept in that industry and lots of people now view porn thanks to the internet.

I think maybe we could forcibly make them secular monks or something as part of their life sentence rehabilitation. Putting a maniac in a cell for a few years is definitely not a great cure, they need personalized therapy and rehabilitation and training and tons of examination to figure out what the problem is, it should be part of our society to care for the mentally ill, and many criminals if not all are pretty much mentally ill in some way.

They need to be taken out of their environments, cut off from their associates, given good treatment and therapy to rehabilitate them and find out where the problem is and how to prevent the problem and other things like that.

Executing people might be cost effective, but it is also cruel, even if they have done absolutely horrible things, executing them means a loss of an important specimen? to study.
