LoP Guest Wrote:why you got two front doors?????

The right is for the main house with direct access to the formal dining room, the left one goes directly into the den. I have three back doors: two sets of French double doors and one 'normal' but still its three back doors!

Thanks! Your place is beautiful! If you are going to post ornamental pix then I get to, too! LOL
And, BTW...Omega, your garden rocks! I didn't make mention of that earlier. I envy your squash and stuff being farther along, but mine will catch up soon.

Looking down the whole 40'x80' main garden. Salad greens (under cover), cauliflower, bok choi, beets, strawberries, onions, spinach, swiss chard, peppers, peas, tomatoes and a big patch of golden raspberries I didn't have a chance to move this season (note to self, never plant raspberries in an area you don't want overrun):

The other end of the big garden. Medicinal herbs like valerian, ashwagandha and others are next to the melons, two experimental patches of carrot seed from last year, asparagus and some pasture creeping in that I haven't conquered yet. I am thinking of using that old rickety ladder for a bean pole.
I still have black-eyed peas and beans and possibly popcorn to plant.

The squash garden. Not only is it still a bit nippy at night for tender seedlings, the quail have found them delicious as well so they are in their little white cups for now. This garden is about 20' x 40' and receives late afternoon high shade from one of my big oaks...helps in the 110° heat we can get.

Salad green under floating row covers. I've never eaten so much salad as this season. I just discovered arugula, yum!:

THe strawberries haven't been very sweet, still too cool...but things will be heating up soon, I'm sure!

That's funny! I was just chastising myself for not preplanning the garden, but just planting willy-nilly and now I have a patch in the middle that I must decide what I will plant.
I wanted to plant popcorn, but it will block the sprinkler if it's in the middle, and we since we are still going to be preparing for some *ahem* medicinal gardening that needs fencing and augering, I am not keen on tilling up yet another patch.
I am going to use the oscillating sprinklers this year instead of drip because 1. we have 165% snowpack in our mountains and 100% rainfall ( ), 2. I want to see if I can overcome some of my spidermite problems by keeping the humidity up.
If you need more information on the drip tape let me know. A 500 ft roll was around $90 and needs some special fittings, but no pressure reducers are needed and the setup is easy. Keep it stored during the off seasons and it will last years.
Even this early some plantings are suffering with flea beetles in abundance, something I've never had to deal with, which means dusting with Sevin and relying on the yellow sticky cups. I hate to use pesticides, but sometimes you gotta.

LOL. I ummmm "medicinal gardened" for years had to give it up before "the heat" got me, lol. :>). That how I tuned my super secret plant food recipe.
Wish I could grow corn I tried it a couple of years doesn't do all that well here besides I was tired of having to stand it back up every time a good thunderstorm blew em all over.
Yes blasting plants with water will ditch the spider mites that is one reason I use the sprinklers...
I do use Sevins on occasion-as far as pesticides go it's not all that bad-I even dust my dawgs with every now and then...

RE: Garden Up 2011!!!
this thread reminds me of my grandparents that died not too long ago.
they lived to be 101 and 94 respectively.
they had a huge garden and a basement full of freezers.
ate all year from their garden.
miss that fried okra.
