heart Getting Rid of the SMART METER - YAY! Dangers of Smart Meters - don't get one!!
I got permission to get the smart meter taken out. It will cost $75 plus ten bucks a month extra.

SDG&E had it put on before we moved here.

I'm so glad!

Anybody else had one put in then taken out? Or have one and want it gone?

http://www.smartmeterdangers.com/letter.pdf

I hate the idea of us all being radiated constantly by that thing. I told my doctor we have one, and he said get rid of it if you can. At least it is on the opposite side of the house from the bedrooms, but my kid uses the computer right on the other side of the wall from it so it's been bothering me. She complains of headaches, and I hear smart meters cause irritability and damage the immune system, among other things.

I don't eat microwaved food or stay in the room when food is getting nuked (by others).

I hope they come soon to get that piece of crap off the side of the house!!

We dodged the bullet by opting out before they are to be installed in our area, even our neighbors have opted out. I have to endure the meter-reader coming on the property, but it's worth it to not have it hanging off my bedroom wall.

ours will be gone in two weeks or less. I need to find out if the next door neighbors have one - I believe they do not - but I'm not sure.

If they do, I'm getting bombarded from both sides...

just checked - they have one

F#CK!

Quote:LOCK YOUR OLD ANALOG METERS UP

If you don’t have a smart meter yet, consider locking up your analog meter(s) so you can’t have a smart meter installed. Asking not to isn’t enough, though there are signs and more at http://refusesmartmeters.com/.

Along with posting a “DO NOT INSTALL SMART METER HERE” sign, some people make sure that they won’t get a smart meter by using a heavy case-hardened steel chain and lock on their analog, others fence their analogs in with a locking gate. Since every month brings us closer to opting out of smart meters due to health issues and more, it may be helpful to hang onto the analog meter as long as possible. You will find that your utility will not like this, but tell them why you are doing so, if asked. We have heard of threats, but no follow-through, in cutting people’s utilities for refusing a smart meter.

Note: New appliances like dishwashers, dryers, and washing machines may come "smart-meter ready", complete with a mini-transmitter that sends usage info to your smart meter, complete with radiation. Don't turn your home into an irradiated, dangerous place to live! Refuse to buy smart appliances (do your homework, they may not be marked as such).

Ten bucks a month to get the untested, over-the-FCC limit, human microwaver taken off your house. Sounds like blackmail to me.

(by untested I mean they have no UL rating)

Tell them the dangers and offer to pay the $75 fee and maybe negotiate the $20 monthly fee. Maybe you can start a trend in the neighborhood:)

Good Luck!!!

You will probably make up that in savings over what the smartmeter would have charged you to do your business during the peak hours. The analog meter will not differentiate between daytime and nighttime useage.

What fries me is that the electricity costs the same to make 24 hours a day, but with a multiplier of up to 99 times in the smartmeter program*, the utility company has carte blanche and charge you many times what the the nighttime rate may be, to run your air conditioner at 3pm, and who needs it at 3am?

Just like they (PG&E) are crying that they shouldn't be charged punitive damage on the death and damage they caused in San Bruno in California because they insist that the explosion from their aging and poorly maintained infrastructure wasn't from their negligence...and like hell it wasn't...they'll do everything they can to keep their bottom line and their investors' returns their first priority.

*Back when TOP was still a decent place to be, we had a long discussion about the smartmeters and I still have the PDF file that shows the computer interface that reveals that they can charge you anywhere from 1X to 99X on the kilowatts you use. Now who believes they'll just stick with 1X?

Until I figure out how to get mine removed I've been looking at ways to shield the interior of the house from the RF...

"According to experts we have consulted with, RF radiation is shielded by aluminum, sheet metal, or copper (grounded to outside grounding rods). Materials used range from heavy duty aluminum foil to sheet metal to copper materials. Even aluminum screening material may be utilized. Every situation is somewhat different, due to variables that differ, such as exposures to neighboring meters and placement of meters, building materials, etc. Keeping as much distance from the smart meters as possible (20+ feet) and not occupying or sleeping in a room where the smart meter is, is a good idea, according to many, including some physicians we have spoken with.

Examples of shielding with "good results" reported:

1. Interior use of rigid aluminum-covered foam insulation panels: There is a recent report from a woman in California who lives in a condo unit with 6 smart meters aimed at her apartment, that were causing severe reactions. She bought large 8' by 4' R Max Thermasheath 3 rigid insulation panels from Home Depot (core is solid polyisocyanurate, both sides faced with aluminum - comes like that) and installed them in barrier fashion (overlapped two right in front of the portion of the wall facing the smart meters). Attached them with aluminum tape. This then covers that entire wall of the house facing the bank of smart meters, which is the only way she can use that room and sleep at night (bedroom nearby)...."

2. Two layers of shielding along an entire wall, built from Reflectix "bubble foil" (4' X 10') http://www.reflectixinc.com, obtained from Home Dept, along with Reflectix foil tape (sold alongside it) used to patch pieces together. 1/8-1/4" "bubble-wrap" core with foil on both front and back surfaces. Use two layers of bubble foil "sandwiched" with wax paper in between, fastened together with blue masking tape. Attach to wall with tan masking tape, do not pierce the bubble foil with nails or staples, and do not use duct tape. This arrangement does not need to be grounded according to one expert. Tested by a professional with rf meter, the bubble foil with the wax paper in between two layers did a better job than two layers with aluminum sides touching. This arrangement, covering an entire interior wall facing a neighbor's meter(s) reduced the rf enough to stop the dizziness and headaches that a family was experiencing from the neighbor's meter. This family is without a smart meter on their own home. They report major relief. Available on Amazon.com at http://www.amazon.com/Reflectix-BP48010-...B000BPAULS for $20.00 a roll.

RE: Getting Rid of the SMART METER - YAY! Dangers of Smart Meters - don't get one!!
They put one on my house not long ago. I went out to tell the "engineer" that he did not have my permission to install it and he actually told me that it wasn't a smart meter. Idiots.

So far they haven't turned on the radio but when they do I'm going to crack it and turn it the f*ck off. Tampering with what? The illegal transceiver you installed on my property? Prove it.
