reporter Ghost or not ?
was there a spook or not please explain

PARANORMAL detectives are being contacted by more than spirits, as inquiries flood in following unexplained events at an Adelaide supermarket.

The video, which has received more than 90,000 hits on AdelaideNow and its sister sites, shows a packet of fruit snacks being flung from a shelf at the Brompton IGA.

The closed-circuit TV footage has led to numerous queries to Adelaide Paranormal Detectives co-founder Jessica Pulvirenti, who investigated the strange occurrence.

"Since this story came out I've had quite a few people contact me asking about the business and what we do," Ms Pulvirenti said. "We also have people ringing us and telling us their own ghost stories."

There was no evidence of a break-in and the alarms were not activated during the event. After studying the footage from the Brompton IGA and visiting the store using electronic voice phenomena, Ms Pulvirenti said the case will be an ongoing investigation.

"We spent a lot of time there trying to recreate the box sliding off the shelf," she said.

"On the video, the box bounced and we could not get the box to bounce - it fell flat.

"It's not enough for us to say definitely, yes the video is genuine.

"All we can say at the current point in time is that we could not recreate it."

Ms Pulvirenti thought she had captured a voice of a spirit during her investigation but has since ruled it out, with too much interference from surrounding fridges and electronic devices.

"They don't, unfortunately, come out on cue," she said. "A lot of investigations we can sit there all night and nothing happens, then the following night something happens and we're not there to capture it."

One theory regarding the mysterious events is that it is linked to the death of world-famous boxer Bora Altintas, who was shot dead at the front of the store in 1998.

A bullet hole is still visible inside the phone box at the front of the IGA.

Others argue that the video is a fake, simply used to generate publicity for the supermarket, but Ms Pulvirenti is determined to find the truth.

The video and story of the IGA ghost has since gone viral, with news sites across Australia and even as far as London, Washington and Portland believing that there is indeed "something out there".
