Ginger or Mary Anne?

It's come to my attention that the television show that aired in the 1960's called Gilligan's Island had two lovely female characters, one named Ginger and the other named Mary Anne.

Ever since it aired, men have been discussing which of the two they would rather nail. Thus, my conclusion is that the show was aired as a beta-test for the over-sexualization of an audience that we would later see with the evolution of television into a sophisticated mass marketing and propaganda tool.

Furthermore, I believe people's answers to this question are being logged by social-media tools (in much the same way as rather or not they read the book Catcher on the Rye) and compiled along with swaths of other data to develop psychological profiles of Americans for tracking and targeting purposes.

In addition, the fact that Mrs. Howell doesn't factor into the equation at all, and is somehow not seen as a female is a very interesting commentary on our youth based culture and tends to also reflect in our advertising and marketing. However, this may be changing with the advent of Viagra and Cialis, which is now being pushed onto a few generations of that over-sexualized, youth-centric, and largely brainwashed public who can probably remember the tune to Gilligan's Island better than the national anthem.

Please discuss.

For the record, I prefer Mary Anne.

P.S. Why was the island named after Gilligan? What message was that supposed to send and does that also reflect in our current culture? I think it does.

Yeah, we know what the masses would do to a woman like Mrs. Howell if they happened to be stranded on an island with her in this day in age. Hell, even if they were stranded in a back alley somewhere. Not good. But really, aside from the Howell's stupidity, ignorance, and sense of entitlement, I don't think they had anything on today's criminal elite.

Really? You don't think if she were a 25 year old sexy blonde it would make a difference to people who ask and answer this question? That's interesting in and of itself. Why wasn't there a blond on the island?

No way I'd chase after a married woman. No matter if we were trapped on a desert island and regardless of if there was anyone else available.

I agree. However, I meant more in the context of answering the hypothetical question. Let's say that Mrs. Howell was a 25 year old fashionable and intelligent blond. Wouldn't the question have instead been, which one would you nail, Ginger, Mary Anne, or Mrs. Howell? Surely, some people would answer the question just as you did, while others wouldn't have factored the Mrs. prefix into the equation when answering, which would say a lot about that person, don't you think?
