Back in this thread it was the topic of Chernobyl was raised. Work has now started on building a new sarcophagus for the plant. The problems at Fukushima are much worse. Part of the fallout from Chernobyl was also prevented from falling on heavily populated areas using geoengineering.

The ruins of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor where an explosion 25 years ago led to one of the worst environmental disasters in history still contain 95 percent of the original fuel load, which remains highly radioactive.

The aging sarcophagus built over the reactor is not airtight, and as a result, current radiation levels in Chernobyl, 100 kilometres north of the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, are 100 times greater than natural levels, according to recent measurements made by environmental experts.
“The radioactivity we measured in Chernobyl is coming from the nuclear plant. The sarcophagus over reactor number 4 has numerous holes and needs to be replaced as soon as possible,” Heinz Smital, a Greenpeace nuclear specialist, told Tierramérica.

Food is still being contaminated from Chernobyl -

As you can see from the above article the levels of Caesium 137 set by the EU for human consumption are very generous.

I put a number of 1000 times worse than chernobyl ...
Using their own info sayin just one reactor would be 100 times worse..
I figure they are lieing again by multiples of 2.5 ... a common safety factor used in engineering...
that would make each 250 times worse and all 4 going into sea would be 1000 times worse not factoring in it would be washing towards us...
or west coast...

She's still going to downgrade before heading in Japan. They don't maintain strong intensity like that for very long, but go ahead and keep the doom alive.

Wouldn't it be a trip if they excavated under the pyramids and found nuclear reactors that had melted down?

you probably have already read about it but if not google nuclear pyramid. there is a big group of archaeoscienti....whatever they are they have a plausible theory that the pyramids themselves.. certainly the original large ones with all the intricate chambers and rooms.. were in fact used as a reactor.

Well that is far more interesting than this bullshit thread, eh?

RE: Global Panic Alert - Fukushima Takes Final Hit - Typhoon Guchol
Wind's saying hello recently. The message comes from afar, from typhoon#4.

Unfortunately there is trouble on the horizon by all accounts for us here in Amami. The storm has naturally been wand'ring slightly left and right, but now appears to be heading in a more northerly path than expected.

Under such conditions of impending weathering I would in the past have been sparkly-eyed and grabbing my keys to go down to the beach and welcome it. But I've got tomato plants now, so the fun's not there any more.

I'll try to cover them after I lay them all flat, but with winds expected to be 50 to 60m/s I don't really see whatever I manage to do will be up to protecting my little charges. But I'll have a go.

I went to the supermarket and bought 5 litres of cow juice. The ferries will operate tomorrow, but I just want to make sure I've got some just in case the ferry suddenly decides not to come tomorrow morning.

The whole island will be without milk supplies and bread for at least a few days starting Tue... That's one down-side to living on a small island.

Well ...................... Shall I be a hero and nail some board to my MIL's wobbly kitchen door so it doesn't blow off (again)? I suspect it would be a good idea because it'll be me who has to replace the door if it does fly off.

My family live in a council apartment. It's built well, so they'll be fine.

I spend most of my time in my place in the city. That's made of wood and it's creaking and old. Usually this whole building becomes like a massage machine during even a mild typhoon.

Well, I suppose I ought to try to get some sleep because when I wake up I have quite a lot of things to check and get done - in preparation for the arrival of typhoon #4.

Plants here - in.
MIL's house - secured.
MIL's old other house (empty) - stick a few nails in strategically and hope for the best.
My 'tent' outside which keeps the rain off the latest bike I'm making - dismantle.

and ... Those 35 tomato plants - cover.

Those are the jobs I know I'll need to do, and I expect some other jobs might easily crop up.

During strong wind I will be cut off from my family because a part of the journey is past a place where the sea and wind becomes an impenetrable barrier. Not only that, but if there's a lot of rain with high winds then there'll be more landslides and getting home will mean finding which back-roads aren't blocked.

I heard my neighbour working today. I thought he was tidying up in readiness for this storm. However while relieving myself on our shared wall I noticed he had done no clearing up at all. A while ago the newspaper delivery lady skidded on her scooter and came off due to my untidy neighbour's rubbish flying out into the street. I suppose this time she might see it a bit better if his rubbish half-blocks the road instead of just a few pieces hiding on it. - Ha ha! I just remembered ... as my neighbour came to work, he backed his truck into his scooter and knocked it over (what a ....).

So I expect tomorrow I will still be able to post here, but I expect - if the storm stays basically on the track it is on now - Tuesday might be difficult due to some likely infrastructure damage.

... Still alarmingly quiet - between the occasional gust.

Please send good wishes to my tomato plants.

Keep safe mael. Before we get a deluge of wet weather here I go round and remove all the debris from the drains around the house.

REC just posted an earthquake on the main FUKU thread, not near you but need to watch out for more as typhoons trigger earthquakes -

Yeah! I noticed that recently - about there being more EQs near where there's a storm. Not all that surprising, however it is something worthwhile being aware of.

Another EQ in Fuku? I'll go and have a look.

I don't expect I'll be in too much danger, but there's a chance I'll try and be a hero if the opportunity presents itself.

Not so...In fact they are predicting her to intensify more

http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-ne...japa/66638

The numbers are pretty interesting also...
Chernobyl reactor # 4 is not air tight and leaking 100 times normal radiation levels.
Typhoon # 4 of this season.
Spent fuel rod pool # 4
4X3=12
1+2=3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3_%28number%29

Just sayin.

The board is set, the pieces are moving. We come to it at last...
The great battle of our time.
