The wealthiest (Self Made)People in the World were Dropouts that never made it to "college", some never made it to High School because they had to Work to Survive or Support their Families. All college does is cripple peoples minds anyway.

You can even get educated for free if you like.
No-one takes attendance at lectures or anything.
I've been to some good ones.

Exactly, when I was attending Indiana University, we use to have a lot of people auditing the classes and even taking the tests for the heck of it. Afterwards, if the persons, who were auditing the class, liked the professor and class, then they would enroll in the class.

Some college is good.

I've had a lot of "some college" chuckle just never finished a degree.

Once I decided to ignore the degree requirements and 200freshman packed classes, I benefited from it.

But I was lucky with my bad luck, and only had to deal with about $1700 worth of debt before deciding student loans was a racket.

It should be a product like anything else. YOU PICK what you want, all courses have equal value.

The problem with a liberal arts education(bachelor of arts degree) is it's supposed to expose you to a wide range of subjects without really giving you practical skills in a field.

And that high school wastes people's potential, often ruining them before college.

Reforms are needed.

Both high schools and colleges are sort of just holding pens these days.

You can even get educated for free if you like.
No-one takes attendance at lectures or anything.

Great point. Stressing the degree is like Bush's retarded "no child left behind" testing.

And with a functioning internet, you can learn all kinds of things on your own.

But some of those lectures are very good. And the interaction is valuable.

Here's a tip for college students: ask good questions, especially when nobody else is participating. I had a lot of classes where the students were asleep basically, or too timid to ask questions.

Professors need interaction. And it pays off in GPA if you help in that way. They will cut you a lot of slack on late assignments and such, if you help make the lectures lively and informative with good questions.

I walked into a lecture on post modernism and asked questions like crazy at the end.
No-one even looked twice at me.
I think the lecturer was grateful someone was keeping the ball rolling.
Walked in off the street, hadn't even been to that campus before.

College is THE biggest scam on the planet.

It's so funny how people think a few years at school and a piece of paper make them so much better than others. It's the ultimate PRIDE booster, and pride is the cause of most arguments and a lot of the world's problems.

Ephesians 2:8

For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

People think their job and their money and their car and their degree make them so special. God doesn't care about any of that.

I agree with you and Tyler Durden Cheer

Jhikpghf People put too much focus on the paperwork.
If you're interested there are lots of cool things you can learn.
I don't really get time like I used to, but would love to attend some law or even physics lectures.

RE: Go to college and get bankrupt
Why does no one ever ask the pertinent question: Why is college so expensive?

The answer is that the employees of colleges and universities are grossly overpaid with ridiculous benefits. Have a look:

There also seems to be an over representation of a certain group there! I hadn't noticed that before.

They also don't have to show up for work which how assistant lecturers also get to suck off the tax payer. I knew people who went to Michigan State who got their lectures on a monitor, pre recorded.

How is it that all of these so called educated students griping about their loans don't have the brains to figure out why college costs so much?
