Of the replies given there, my money are on editing your DNS hosts file and flushing the DNS cache. Instructions are in the thread I linked.

The latest gen of this virus is a rootkit virus.

Removing it is very difficult. It often uses system restore to "respawn" itself.

Save yourself a headache and take it to a pro.

Then use adblocker software in the future -- antivirus won't save you.

you may need to go to run: type iexplore and choose internet explorer 64 bit
then go to kaspersky labs and get their rootkit killer (TDSS) save it and then open and run
this thing is BURIED in your registry and this is the only way to get rid of it;
it had one about 8 mo ago and it was the only way to kill it
recommend everyone download this program so if you do pick this up you can get rid of it/
nothing else will work I'm afriad
p.s. the iexplore is the only way around the redirect

This might have nabbed it. I will have to do a lot more searches until I'm convinced, but if so, thank you! It was quick. Did two random searches, and no hijack, but time will tell!

Thank you again, 117197. A couple more searches, and no problems, unless there is a piece of the bad stuff still in there that will regenerate itself later! After all that, the fix took 5 minutes, as long as it holds up!
