Name one scientific study that has shown that chemicals can cause fish to have lesions or shrimp to be born with no eyes? You can't.!
I had to say it before chemical Joe had the chance.
Onc could do their own study.
Pour a bit of corexit and crude oil into a well established salt water tank, and see what happens.
Being a betting man from Vegas my money says the fishies will at very least die.
Once having had a salt water tank, it would be a bit expensive to do though.
Mine says we have only begun to see the mutations and disease coming at us in the Gulf. I was being sarcastic in that last post towards a chemical company shill who posts here.

RE: Gulf seafood deformities alarm scientists
This issue hits home with me as my family was in the shrimping and fishing industry for three decades and ran numerous boats in the gulf. I miss the days when I used to have my seafood shipped up in dry ice for pennies or going down to Mobile or New Orleans to go on the boats.
I'll still eat shrimp and other seafood, but it's mostly farm raised now unless I'm eating something that's found in the Atlantic or Pacific.
The scary thing is the constant mislabeling of seafood as supermarkets. It's a constant problem that happens all the time. You think you are buying one thing, but you are buying another fish altogether.

Y'all ain't seen nuthin yet! Wait a season or two and watch one the crews on "The Deadliest Catch" start hauling in 15-legged crabs.
Or in the spirit of 50s sci-fi, one crab...that takes up the whole pot!

"Eyeless shrimp and fish with lesions are becoming common, with BP oil pollution believed to be the likely cause."
I'm shocked!

Of course, nobody looks for eyes when they eat that little chunk of meat covered in crispy batter with an annoying little hard tail on the end of it.
If only the BP spill had caused a genetic mutation to soften that tail more to make it edible. Money in the bank.

I just hope the crawfish aren't messed up. I prefer them to shrimp
anyway.

I know.
The good thing about this is my Nazi Father in law still goes to the shrimp buffets here in Vegas twice a week.

New Orleans, LA - "The fishermen have never seen anything like this," Dr Jim Cowan told Al Jazeera. "And in my 20 years working on red snapper, looking at somewhere between 20 and 30,000 fish, I've never seen anything like this either."
Dr Cowan, with Louisiana State University's Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences started hearing about fish with sores and lesions from fishermen in November 2010.
Cowan's findings replicate those of others living along vast areas of the Gulf Coast that have been impacted by BP's oil and dispersants.
Gulf of Mexico fishermen, scientists and seafood processors have told Al Jazeera they are finding disturbing numbers of mutated shrimp, crab and fish that they believe are deformed by chemicals released during BP's 2010 oil disaster.
Along with collapsing fisheries, signs of malignant impact on the regional ecosystem are ominous: horribly mutated shrimp, fish with oozing sores, underdeveloped blue crabs lacking claws, eyeless crabs and shrimp - and interviewees' fingers point towards BP's oil pollution disaster as being the cause.
Eyeless shrimp
Tracy Kuhns and her husband Mike Roberts, commercial fishers from Barataria, Louisiana, are finding eyeless shrimp.
"At the height of the last white shrimp season, in September, one of our friends caught 400 pounds of these," Kuhns told Al Jazeera while showing a sample of the eyeless shrimp.
According to Kuhns, at least 50 per cent of the shrimp caught in that period in Barataria Bay, a popular shrimping area that was heavily impacted by BP's oil and dispersants, were eyeless. Kuhns added: "Disturbingly, not only do the shrimp lack eyes, they even lack eye sockets."
"Some shrimpers are catching these out in the open Gulf [of Mexico]," she added, "They are also catching them in Alabama and Mississippi. We are also finding eyeless crabs, crabs with their shells soft instead of hard, full grown crabs that are one-fifth their normal size, clawless crabs, and crabs with shells that don't have their usual spikes … they look like they've been burned off by chemicals."....

What a hoax!
Come on people, get in your full size 4x4s and do donuts in the mud lot next to Walmart, and shoot your rifles into the air, and then stock up your Winnebagos with Doomsday supplies for when the aliens land on the White House lawn!
Remember to keep stashes of 10 years food supply hidden everyplace you can, and buy as many guns as you can afford! Spend your life savings if you have to!
Man, doom is really good for the economy, except for these hoaxes about oil being bad, or some such crap.

You can all carry on blaming BP but as long as you do so you are ignoring the collective responsibility.
BP weren't drilling there for fun. They were drilling there because your (our) demand means oil companies have to find oil in places that are more inaccessible, and more difficult to extract. If BP hadn't been there someone else would.
